I wear tru spec pants. I used to have some 5.11's but IMO the tru specs are a lot more comfy...and I like the pockets better.

Picked a guy up last night from the local county jail...he was jumped by two other inmates...he had some lacs to the face, black eye, and the back of his neck was all swollen from where they hit him...

collar, boarded him, monitor, iv, bgl...pretty much the run of the mill basic als call.

A&Ox4, GCS 15. He denied LOC, n/v, dizziness, or any other neuro symptoms, pupils were PERRL...went non to the ER.

Later on one of our last runs of he night I asked the RN that I handed him off to how he was doing...subdural bleed. Pretty crazy how the guy was having no neuro symptoms and had a bleed....unless he wasn't telling me.

    Just thought that was interesting.

Nice. Usually Subdurals are slow bleed so you wouldn't see signs anyways for a few hours

good point I totally forgot about that rule of thumb...

    Sub-dural=slow onset

    sub-arachnoid= fast onset

saw this on the news the other week.... http://travel.usatoday.com/destinat...gas-hangover-bus-cruises-the-Strip/54309542/1

"Once on the bus, treatment can take less than an hour for a $90 basic IV of saline solution, B vitamins and vitamin C. A premium package, $150, includes two bags. For an extra fee, Burke will bring treatment to a tourist's hotel room.
Burke administers the prescription anti-inflammatory Ketorolac or Toradol for pain and Zofran, also known as Ondansetron, for nausea. Acid heartburn can be treated with over-the-counter ranitidine. Patients get a shot of the anesthetic Lidocaine to numb the skin before the IV needle is inserted."

An inmate likes to keep opening his surgery incision. The cut starts at the bottom of his chest and goes down about an inch under his belly button.

It is about an inch wide and an inch deep. The skin is open and connect to the muscle, so it says open. So you can see fat and the muscle. He likes to keep pulling the skin back and shove things in it.

He also ripped open his ball sack and shoved cardboard in it as well.

Thanks California, guy spent about 4 million of the tax payers money in the last 2 years.

And they wonder why we are so in dent.

I got a .50 cent bullet that will fix the problem

Got a little dilema. Got an email today from a doctor on my patrol asking for volunteers to do first aid at a walk for... type of event. It is not a patrol sanctioned event, meaning I don't have my usual insurance. From what I can understand is he wants us to go under the good samaritan law. ANB will be on site with an ambulance. My first instinct is not to go because of not having any insurance coverage, is this a good action to take or should I help out?

I just got another one, this one is a graduation party for the local high school. In charge is a dentist, who is also a good friend of mine. This event will have a waiver each person needs to sign. Nurses will be on scene providing care, he explained our job would be to pick the people up. Since they are doctors can I work under their direction and be covered. Am I covered just by whats in the Canadian Charter of Rights. I really want to help them out, I am not trying to be a Ricky Rescue, but if its a risk I don't want to do it.

I would not be receiving payment, but I did work as a responder with the ski patrol over the winter.

got toned out for a 35 y/o female w/ abdominal pain in 34 weeks gestation. turns out as we entered the house she was sitting on the toilet and she was complaining that her doodoo was too hard for her butthole to pinch it off. so she was just sitting there with a turd dangling from her booty. yep, just another day at the office.

I had a subarachnoid hemorrhage and the onset for me was almost instananeous as it is for the majority of people.
