I see very few 2nd gen Tacomas with sunroofs and wonder why they aren't more popular. Out of curiosity, what would prevent you from getting an aftermarket sunroof? Please answer the poll.

EDIT: I forgot to add a choice "No reason not to -- I plan on getting a sunroof installed"

I don't see a poll but the only thing preventing me is finances and inability to prioritize my mod desires.....including the sliding window!

One would be losing the speakers in the ceiling.

But would live to what it looks like when it's done. Anyone have pics?

Only reason I wouldn't/haven't is because someone drilling a hole in my roof makes me nervous lol. I do miss a sunroof at times since all my previous vehicles have had them.

How's it seal after a trip offroading, with all the flexing and twisting the cab can go through.

Because it is hot as hell where I live... haha!

Actually it is more to do with finances, and not seeing a need for it all... I drive around with all four windows down and the sliding glass open all the time. Adding a sunroof to that seems pointless.

I had a sunroof on the Lexus IS300 I had. I don't think I ever really used it.

I am guessing that on second gens with the corrougated roof, this could be problematic for a rubber seal. 1st gens had the smooth roof, so, if the install was done correctly, there should be no problems, if I remember correctly, Toyota even offered it as an option on the 1st gen.

    2 reasons....

    They generally leak.

    They generally look horrible.

    Note "generally".

I've seen some absolutely beautiful roofs that look like they were done at the factory and don't leak. That is by far the exception.

I live in AZ! The sun is our enemy during the summer and it's hard on components! One more thing to malfunction plus it's pricey

What he said. I'll prolly be getting one, but I'll be present the entire time making sure it's put in EXACTLY where I want it. I've seen some on 2nd gen's on here where the sunroof is basically BEHIND the driver's head - defeats the purpose IMO.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I would only get one if it was factory installed, it seems like aftermarket sunroofs always leak and whistle like crazy. My dad has one on his Accord, but they come standard out of the factory, it does not whistle or leak at all.
