Have a stock seat on the DD and normally go for 250 to 300 mile day rides. If I feel any discomfort, just slide back a few inches to the wider part of the seat for comfort. The seating position is upright making it comfortable, too. :)

    Thanks,

Have a Cycle Hill tire stand, NoMar balancer & change tires on my bikes. Replaced the original rear Dunlop with a Avon Cobra 180/55/18 last week.

Yes, we've discussed before how much of an idiot this person is. I don't always call people out, but when I do it's because they ride a car tire on their motorcycle.

have you ever ridden darkside?? if not GTFO because you have no idea what youre talking about.... there is nothing wrong with the car tire on the back of a 800 pound cruiser...no i wouldnt put it on a hayabusa etc

    +1

Google "Dragon on a Goldwing Youtube"

    He's on a car tire.
Says he's not sticking with it, simply because he doesn't care for the feel in transition, but doesn't see anything wrong with it for routine highway riding.

First off, doing something and thinking you're an expert isn't exactly how it works. Riding, wtf did you call it, darkside?, doesn't mean you know what you're talking about.

I'm assuming your argument is basically that a cruiser is obviously not a sport bike and that you have the turning radius of a tractor trailer, so it doesn't matter what kind of tire you use?

There is a fundamental flaw with using a car tire on a motorcycle, car tires are designed for cars... I'm sure we can agree that motorcycles, regardless of size, width, weight, etc. perform quite differently than cars and as such require different tires.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZ_d5IIdRZI

I also just watched this video. This guy makes a valid point, yes there seems to be a similar "contact patch" between a car tire and motorcycle tire. However, he doesn't mention anything about the tread compound on a car tire vs. a motorcycle tire or tread design.

Tires that are designed for cars are designed around maximizing mileage, fuel economy, and performance. Motorcycle tires are designed around one principle, performance. There's a reason why most spec sheets on motorcycle tires don't list mileage, because it's typically not a factor. If I only had two wheels on the ground with only one receiving power, I sure as hell would want it to be a soft compound grippy tire.

More and more motorcycles are now coming with ABS. What will a car tire do to an ABS system designed for a motorcycle tire?

A majority of people enjoy riding motorcycles in the twisties. I'm sure you know that you decelerate into a corner, lean in, and accelerate through and out of the turn. You're going to trust your one contact to the ground to the edge of a tire (which typically has a different compound than the center), designed for a car?

I've spent too much time on this reply. I'll leave out my argument on tire tread design, and the fact you have a completely different handling bike with a car tire. And no, I haven't ridden darkside, but I have taken classes in material science and mechanical engineering from one of the best schools in the country and I do ride motorcycles.

This gave me a good break from studying. Back to work. Enjoy your death trap.
