I'm getting ready to order some new wheels. I understand the whole backspacing aspect of it, however the wheels I'm looking at come in hubcentric or lugcentric. Which ones do I need??? 2011 DC PreRunner OME 885x.

I searched and found that you can run lugcentric wheels with an adapter?? Well if I get the hubcentric version would it make everything easier (i.e. no adapter)?

always buy hubcentric wheels whenever you can. the tacoma hub bore is 106mm for your reference.

The sticky named "wheel specs" says that the hub bore is 108mm for the TRD Sport Alloy Wheels - 17" and obviously they fit...I don't understand.

most aftermarket wheel companies out there make "universal" lugcentric wheels and the hub opening is usually 108mm. this number has been floating around the internet and is misleading some folks. they buy the wheels, mount them on and think that the tacoma's hub bore is 108mm.

You can just buy the wheel you like and use a hub centric ring if you find that you have vibrations. You can purchase 108mm - 106mm hub centric rings very inexpensively.

Personally, I have not had an issue with my Tacoma and 108mm center bore wheels and no hub rings.

Also if the wheels you are purchasing have a push-thru cap, you won't need hub centric rings, and the cap will most likely be 2mm thick, which will center the 108mm center bore wheel on your hub.

Almost all aftermarket wheels are lug centric, so you don't need hubcentric.

Hub centric wheels will have less of a chance of vibes, but that's about it.

Very true, most aftermarket wheels are lugcentric. Given the choice, always go for hubcentric. What's the number one issue/problem have once people get new wheels? More often than not it's a vibration problems right after a new wheel/tire setup. Either it wasn't balanced correctly or mounted on properly and this is usually related to lugcentric setups.

It's like buying wheel adapters/spacers that a lot us off-roaders use, you buy hubcentric when you can. Less possible issues equals less potential headaches.
