Sway bar rubbing on left coil spring

Dose any body know how to fix this?? just got new tires went from p245/75 R16 to p265 /75 R16. The smart guy that put on the tires said it was a bad strut!!! its not! its the sway bar rubbing on the coil spring!!

 

Have you attempted to install a sway bar relocate bracket?? Or considered taking your sway bar off??

 

sway bar relocate kit is about $40 shipped from toytec.

 

I took my swaybar off a week ago and can barely tell a difference, it's a little different but not in a bad way; less fight from of the front to flex offroad too. Just take it off, but if you want to leave it on get a swaybar relocate kit, like $30 and it just moves the swaybar forward like 1".

Either way, taking the sway bar off takes 20min and installing the relocate takes 20min, both are an easy job.

 

I am having the same problem. Last night, I installed 5100's set at 0 on Eibach springs. The sway bar on the driver's side is hitting the bottom of the coil and spring support.. I just ordered the Toytec sway bar relocate kit. I hope this fixes the popping sound.

 

it will fix it i had the same thing going on mine wasn't a popping sound it was like a nasty metal on metal grind. it made me feel like a real bada$$ every time someone heard me pull out of my driveway.

Not trying to hijack someone's elses thread, but I think I am having the same problem. On the driver side, the sway bar is rubbing on the coil. Makes a terrible squeaking noise. This is a 2009 Tacoma. Shocks were already on vehicle when I bought it used from the dealer. It was squeaking 2 weeks after I drove it off the lot. Is this something the dealer should fix?

I can look at the shocks and send better pics if that would help.

Learning as I go. First Tacoma, but still love this truck.

I don't know what kind of coil covers they are. Where would I look on them to determine that? I can take a few more pics if that would help. The shocks on the back are Nitro Charger.

Yep, rears are yellow.

 

So do you think the dealer should pay for the parts and the install of the sway bar relocation brackets?

 

Make your semi-independent front suspension fully independent front suspension by removing the swaybar. You'll enjoy the ride without it. Smoother on road & off. A very slight increase in body roll on road, but with only 1 shock & spring reacting to bumps & dips you'll get more flex & a better ride.
