Finished painting my front today. I am really pleased with the bumper but even more happy because I didn't realize it was going to include hi lift points! Unfortunately I got the wrong lights and none of my friends will help me install it so I'm waiting until next week to put it on. Great work, I'll post pics once it's installed.

Oh yeah, who has cut down the front frame rails on 98-00? I only have a Dremel that has surprised me with what it can cut, but I'm not sure if that's going to cut it? Do I need a sawzall?

That was last Sat. I didn't go because the bumper hadn't arrived yet and I had to secure myself my new garage (worth it!). I'll see if I can bring it to him for help.

Got it installed last weekend, and it is bad ass! Havent had time to take pics but I shall. I also installed PIAA 510 fogs. A few notes:

    Fitment amd quality is excellent!

I was SUPER happy that it has insersion/lift points for a Hi-Lift, as this isnt included in the description and illustration and is a most pleasant and welcome surprise. I tested it and it came right off the ground. After lowering it back, the bumper was still aligned! THANKS!

The hardware supplied by PIAA to mount the lights was too wide for the slots in the nice, beefy brackets supplied on the bumper. I had to switch them out for M7x15mm -20mm ones.

The slots in the mounts for a skid plate are too narrow for the factory hardware. Narrower hardware is needed for this as well. Some may wish to find the appropriate hardware and weld the nut onto the top of the bumper bracket to ease installation and removal of a skid so the nut doesn't spin up there and it's hard to reach with the skid in place. I haven't gotten around to addressing this yet so I don't have a skid on the truck right now.

    Keep up the good work!

if anything its going to make it harder in the event of an accident to deploy the airbags as your going to have more protection.

which is why we always wear our seatbelts, give proper stopping room, and constantly check our surroundings. already with no sway bar and added weight i keep an eye out. the only close calls ive been in would of been under 20 miles an hour, and the other cars fault.

There's really a lot of variables to consider when asking this question. The short answer is yes, your airbag sensors will react a little bit differently.

    1. The bumper is more sturdy and doesn't have the factory crumple places built in, so more energy will be transferred to the frame, causing the sensors to read higher.

    2. Momentum will be higher due to the heavier weight and stoutness of the bumper, forcing the object collided with to absorb more of the energy than with the factory.

    3. Deflection is quite a bit different than the factory bumper, potentially causing energy to be redirected.

    4. Different impact areas. Smaller impact areas in some places, larger in others.

I'm sure theres many other factors that can be considered as well, but in the end, logically, the bumper should protect you more than the factory. Legal wise, he should put a disclaimer that the bumpers are for off road use only and use at your own risk.

For the air bags it might affect what kind of impact will or will not cause them to deploy however it will not affect your safety. Basically the airbag sensor detects a threshold of deceleration and is typically located on the frame in close proximity to the driver. Whatever you do or don't have on the front of the vehicle might affect how the middle of the vehicle (and thus you) decelerates in a crash, but no matter what when you hit that unsafe threshold determined by the sensor the airbags will deploy.
