Test drove a DC TRD sport today... had every major addon except the navi.. which strangely the salesman told me "Tacomas dont come with navigation"

Anyways, shocked at how smooth that truck rides, it's better than my dads 2011 F250 lariat powerstroke with street tires...

Anyways, it has the bilstein shocks on it... if I were to go with a 3" basic lift from rough country, will the bilsteins be ok or would I have to replace them with RC shocks?

Also, what's a good 3" lift for it and what's the max tire size you can run with a 3"?

    Thanks guys!

My local dealers had to try to find one WITHOUT the navi. He's feeding you a line of crap because he wants to sell you THAT TRUCK. I simple Internet search will pull up several with navi. This is exactly why dealing with most dealers sucks!!!

Thanks, would probably go with a 3" from toytech and 285's once stock tires are done.

Im not sure if I want to spend the extra $1900 on the navi, they had probably 7 '12 tacos there and not one had navi.. I wanted to hear the JBL speakers because I didnt think the sound was all that crisp and clear from the regular sound system.. I have 4 pioneer speakers that cost me $80 in my honda and they sound more clear than what I heard from the taco. I also want the LB but may stick with the short, not sure yet, They didnt have a LB in either...

Last question, the one I drove had the TRD Sport package, with the bilstein's.. yada yada... Does it come with the rear locker or is that only with the TRD OFF ROAD?

Same here. I wanted one without NAVI but I would have had to wait several weeks for one so I broke down and got it with. I hate dealers.

I bought a g35 when they first came out and they offered a bose upgrade system. I did not upgrade because I was super dissapointed in the sound of the upgrade. With that said I figured it would not be worth upgrading on my new taco. Boy was I wrong! My wifes nephew (who wrks for toyota) convinced me to upgrade blindly and I did. I have no regrets. Plus I got a great deal on the truck. :) You should atleast hear it so you can make a descion to get or not to get. Good Luck with your purchase. Get ready to get swepted into taco heaven here on tacomaworld! :D

Mine has Navi too... Couldn't find one with out it. I searched a lot of dealers and it was tough to find a Mag gray, Long bed, double cab, 4X4 in Southern California. Plenty of 2WD....

the most shocking part of buying my 2012 tacoma is how uninformed the salesman are at Toyota dealers, mind blowingly ignorant of their product.

i had more than a couple morons convinced they could find me a TRD off road package with hood scoop and color matched grille/bumpers. for some reason they love letting you know they come with hood scoops as a selling point.

Does it come with the rear locker or is that only with the TRD OFF ROAD?

Correct, No locker on the sport.

Here's a thought. If you don't want to select a certain thread or forum to read, you don't have to. Nobody's making you sit at your computer and read every single thread on the site. Who care's if the guy asked a question about a lift, he also had other points that he wanted addressed as well.

And it's not being lazy, perhaps he wanted direct feedback about the exact truck he was looking to purchase and wanted to see what all of us had to say about it. I don't see a thing wrong with that.

To the OP: As some have said, the tacomas definitely come with Navi. Working at a car dealership, myself, there are those salesman who are very knowledgeable about their product, while there are others that get by, just by telling the customers what they want to hear. The ones that tend to have experience with a certain Make obviously tend to know more about the product. However, in the car business, there is a lot of turnover so people who many know a certain model such as Fords, may then be switched to selling Nissans, and so forth. Nonetheless, good luck in your search!

I went back to the dealer that had my truck 3 times before I found a salesman I wanted to buy from. This guy knew his stuff. He actually owned a Taco and could tell me everything from his experiences towing to off-roading. The first two guys had to read off the window sticker every time I asked a question. I asked one what HE drove and he had a BMW...:frusty:

Mine too. I've had pretty banging speaker set ups and for a stock trucks JBL system it sounds pretty good. And mine came with navi too, TRD Sport.
