I said it like that because people still have no idea how to use the original sea foam properly. :smack:

When I did my trucks intake it didnt smoke too bad. It did smoke for about 5 minutes but it was pretty thin. I think it was because i just used 1/3 a can. When I was letting the vaccum hose suck it up my engine stalled. It was kindof a pain in the ass. But I did feel like it was running a bit smoother.

I have done all the hi-pro mods for a life time, since I got this truck at a great price, I will be happy with showroom new.
6.50 was that at a NAPA store? I went to one several weeks ago to get a new thermostat, and they had it on sale, grabbed 4 can myself.

My 2000 has 65k on it. Think a shot of seafoam would do anything for mileage etc?I always thought seafoam was kinda more for old beaters, but if ill get anything out of it ill go for it.

My '04 had about 60K on it when I recently gave it a Seafoam treatment (fuel, oil, and vacuum line). I got very little smoke and I haven't seen any real change in gas mileage or performance. It does idle more smoothly, and I noticed the oil was dirtier than normal when I drained it (indicating the probable removal of some internal varnish/sludge).

Just throwing this out there even though the thread is 20+ days old:

Seafoam via vacuum line is completely okay. For rotary motors (I worked in a rotary shop for a few years) we noticed that the turbo guys (myself included) who had water or alcohol injection the motors internals when disassembled were incredibly cleaner than those who didn't run it.

I've used seafoam on older BMW's, Nissans, Rotaries, Toyotas, etc. with no issues. I even used it on my 98 Volvo Turbo I had and it had a CEL for like 5 minutes that it was smoking, but it went away right after.

Now I can't really say that I've noticed any huge difference with the before and after because I've never had a car that I haven't driven hard which IMO keeps carbon and other crap from building up.

I'm gonna run seafoam on my new (old) Tacoma once I need to change the oil.

The only real issue I can see is if you have a motor that has been babied for 100K+ miles, which would lead to carbon buildup. Once you Seafoam a motor with HEAVY buildup you could risk dislodging chunks of carbon, which can clog that cat, plug up stuff, or unveil a leak that the carbon was patching.

Around $26,000 worth of unleaded in the fuel tank.
I have used seafoam in 2 different tacomas with 3.4s at around 140k mi. they both smoked like crazy for 10 minutes or so of running it through the booster line. I also ran 1/3 can in the oil for 400 miles or so. It is just a petroleum distillate and won't hurt anything. When I ran it in the gas I had some slightly oily stuff inside the tailpipe which means it probably doesn't all get burned by the catalytic, so it could maybe clean the catalytic. It is probably just something that is available at a paint store for a fraction of the price, but who knows?

I had a car with a bad coil pack that gave a cel from the misfire soot buildup in the catalytic. Seafoam in the gas tank made the cel go away.

I don't think seafoam will "eat" a catalytic, but could maybe make it dirty for a while. Most cats get replaced just because they're dirty inside and could simply be washed out with detergents, degreaser or lemon juice.

Seafoam is good on the rocks in a tall glass...not really.

picked up a bottle from AutoZone for $7 today, blew out a decent amount of smoke. 1/3 in BB, 1/3 in oil, and 1/3 in gas.

Will be getting the oil changed this week.

Only downfall was dropping the oil cap in the engine bay and it getting stuck on the skidplates, after a lot of useless screwing bolts I just went back to AZ and picked up a new oil cap for $5. Hopefully no CELs show up

Apparently, Seafoam makes a 1-gallon size.

Does anybody know where I can buy it? I don't have an Advance Auto Parts nearby, unfortunately....
