Personally, I can't see riding on a tire that doesn't feel good in the transition- just because as a rider, I can imagine way too many transitions.

The contact patch argument in the video? A good chunk of the contact patch is on the sidewall and the sidewall on any car tire is not meant to be used as contact surface-it's the weakest part of the tire.

I'd personally rather ride a tire designed for a motorcycle that lasts 7k miles and costs 2x as much as a car tire. Pardon the pun, but I have too much riding on the safety of the tire.

+1 to you. Very well said. I too have no desire to ride "darkside" and never will. I won't risk my life and the lives of others because i decide to run a tire not designed for the vehicle i'm in.

If they were supposed to have car tires on a motorcycle, why is no manufacturer on the planed putting them on?

Yup agreed, the dude in the video obviously doesn't actually try to put any power down exiting corners. Sidewall on the ground is bad.

The only reason he got that much contact patch on the ground is because he is a fat bastard and over loading his little wee-strom. If your too damn cheap to keep the correct tire on your bike, then maybe you need to stop riding. Rant over.

Can't fix stupid, motorcycles have a bad rap because of the idiots that get on them, not the machines themselves.

These arguments have been bandied about for the last 7 years and nobody has been killed because they put a car tire on their motorcycle.

I don't do it, but the only reason is because there is not a readily available CT that fits my rim and swingarm that is of the proper design.

You don't just grab "what fits" and run it.

Quality? I've had tread separation and bubbles in motorcycle tires... never had that problem with a car tire. I would expect when I'm spending $220+ for a tire it's going to be GOOD... but it's not.
They feather, they go out of balance, and they barely make it 12,000 miles.

There is a reason they only run about 10k miles. They are a soft compound designed to stick to the road to keep you on it. If you want to do it and tempt fate, go ahead. Me for one will NEVER run a car tire on any motorcycle I own. There are enough dangers in riding a motorcycle. I for one am not going to add another one just because hundreds/thousands of idiots on the internet say its ok because they've done it.

With hundreds of thousands of miles under those tires over the last 7 years and no incidents.

Did you look up the Goldwing/Dragon Youtube video?

yes i've seen it. It doesn't look safe to me. Today's motorcycles were designed with curved tires to maximize a contact patch and give the proper physics to lean into a turn instead of steer in a turn. A car tire simply doesn't give that. Like I said before, several thousand idiots are willing to risk their lives, I'm not.

How much fun are those bikes? I've always wanted to ride one. They look so small and nimble.

What pipe do you have on that guy? You need to move that license plate up under the subframe too  This is the fender elim I got, you can bundle the integrated tail and license plate light, if you email the guy he will give you the ebay price without having to hassle with ebay.

They have a racing series for those 250s. I've seen some decked out in full race gear. They look like so much fun with a few upgrades to the suspension. WOT for most of the track.
