    could have been. the mech room wall drywall had a layer (rubber?) in the middle of the sheet, the drywall on the ceiling was 5/8" with no layer. he also had me wrap all the pots (IC) with dynamat, roughly $100 of dynamat on each pot light (8).

    It's a gel , there is also a layer of foil in there .

    One 5/8" layer of Quietrock has the same decibel reduction rating as 5 sheets of 1/2" stacked

    I was sheet rocking a hospital @ one time and the sheets of sheet rock had lead on the back of them for the x-ray room. The were so damn heavy!

    haha, the house was completely gutted. ~60' of interior walls came out. 2 additions were knocked off, the theatre room is the new addition. I've rewired the entire house, minus the pool area.
