Yes, valve size and number will infuence flow. Cam shape, forced induction and others. But those are a different issue.

So, we can agree there is a restriction on the "CAI". Whether it is significant or not is debatable. Others have noted performance gains from "CAI" changes.
I struggle with the bolded statement. Lower pressure air has less mass. But as noted before, the viscosity is the same as denser air. So why would it have less impact on the intake? Is this about the perceived force required to move the mass. If so, the pressure gradient (driver) remains high due to the restrictions caused by the higher flow volumes.
Oh, and the use of the word vacuum. As far as vacuums go, this would be considered a low vacuum. As opposed to outer space. Which makes the earlier analogy about space seem odd.

And for those reading along check this ealier thread.

My guess for what he means to say (I can't confirm its validity) is that with less dense air there will be fewer molecules attempting to pass through filter media for any given surface area. Therefore a higher parentage of these molecules will make it through the holes in the media than if the air were exceptionally dense, such as at sea level on a cold day. In this case the filter media would be bombarded with air molecules and some would get through while a higher percentage would be restricted by the fibers of the media.

I think that's what he's getting at and while I cannot validate it, it does make sense to me.

Agree 100%. I've had K&N CAIs on all of my vehicles for the last 20 years. The K&N I've got on my Taco is useless with all of the hot air it sucks in...

Is not the size of the molecule the same, despite density, which is still trying to go through the same medium, I.E. filter restriction?

My comment was not about Tacomas and their ability to go that fast. Strictly the fact that those vehicles' make boost, due to the ram air effect. Caused by speed. Which only pertained to the comment about ram air.

If you Taco can't go 145 in the quarter, it's just slow. :p Lol.

Yes but again let's try an analogy. Let's take a vacuum cleaner hose and put a screen on the end. Now sprinkle some flour through the air in front of it and watch it suck it up. Now stick the end of the hose into the bag of flour (where it is much more dense) and watch the thing clog up. The particles of flour are the same size as those you sprinkled in the air.

SWEET, now we are baking horsepower.....

I think I am going to go home and cut a trash can, shape it into a skewp duct tape to the hood of my new z06, cut an access opening and attach a vacuum hose to it, then to the intake. ill make a box full of flour that I can remotely dump in front of the trashcan skewp and see what happens while driving 145+ MPH...Dyno results inc....

This one seems to breathe pretty good. Couse it doesn't have much of a filter right now. Lol.....

Who wouldn't be inspired by a V-8 with a good sized turbo.

I believe he ran a 198 or 202 mph in the first Texas Mile of 2011. If only my truck and filter can be ready by next near's first Texas Mile. Hell I might even remove the filter. Haha.

Be sure to pre-heat your engine to 375 before adding the flour to the intake.

It sounds like I'm getting a coupla more mpg after adding the intake but I think it just threw the odometer off. Sorry, no dyno to prove it tho.

Got my truck tinted today...other than a piece of dirt in the visor strip, it sounds great! ...have to get that fixed. Throttle response is a little better tho.
