I was thinking that. The furthest east guy I know is in West Caldwell. Not sure if that's too far. Let me know if you want his info.

I know man... We've been trying to figure out a good weekend but this month is just packed. I have a bbq and race this weekend, next weekend is beerfest in Berkeley Heights and Mothers Day, the following wknd is the MS Charity Event and then its Memorial Day Wknd after that. So its looking like June. Maybe the wknd of 7th/8th?
    That work for everyone?

Good idea Scott. I was looking at .22 targets at cabelas. Would be a pretty easy welding job to make some of our own

Bilstein 5100's on all four with some OME 885x's. Brute Force Fab front bumper. Warn winch. Koenig countersteers wrapped with duratracs.
i bought a steel spinner target....hit it with my 30.06 and took a chunk outta the steel...hit it again on the foot (also made of steel) and now its sitting in the woods somewhere...thing was a piece of crap.

    MOST ARE...ESP. IF YOUR USING A 30-06:eek:
SHIT BLEW A HOLE RIGHT THROUGH A 15" THICK TREE......
I BUY A $35 TARGET FOR THE .22 ONLY AS THATS THE FUNNEST AND CHEAPEST TO SHOOT "I GO THROUGHAT LEAST 3500+ ROUNDS AT THE BC MEET"....AND THE AUTO RESET TARGET IS A BLAST BUT THERE IS ALWAYS SOME DRUNKIN PEOPLE THAT SHHOOT IT WITH THERE .45 , 9MM, 357ECT
    AND KILL IT....
SO FOR ABOUT $60 BUCKS I CAN HOPEFULLY MAKE A DECENT TARGET THAT WILL LAST A FEW USES....
AND I MIGHT ALSO MAKE ONE FOR HAND GUN ROUNDS AS WELL......
IM THINKING 3/16 FOR THE .22
    AND 1/4" FOR HANDGUN ROUNDS....
    ANY THOUGHTS ANYONE....

The plates aren't the issues it's the arms. The last ones were aluminum and they snap to easy.

I would grind down the arm facing the rounds so it's round or like a knife edge that way the rounds aren't tearing it in half they are hopefully glancing off of it.

The thicker the plate the better so I would use 1/4" for both targets....don't forget BEEFY 3/8" thick arms for both.

naw i dont want them to spin all the way around....
i just want them to swing so you know u hit them....
and when they swing it displaces the energy and directs the fragments down and away from shooters....
thats a must when shooting steel targets....
and this target will be a few feet high of the ground and very stable....
it may very well be used for hand guns rounds as well i will bring a test piece for handguns......

can anyone tell me what size plate needed for handgun rounds....

    depends on what rounds...

9mm has about highest penetration rate for pistols

see here for what I use for glass ratings... you need at least level 8 :D
