    ya the newest CHP toy is a LiDAR with a camera attached, takes a laser snap shot and video with snap of your plates and sends the ticket in the mail with GPS corodinates. Its not fully implemented but is close. I had seen 2 beening tested near El Centro last weekend and asked.

    well, bad thing is the latest LiDAR out has a way of telling if it is being jammed, be careful with that its a nasty fine. I use the Escort 9500ix and it has saved me a few times with laser, you have maybe 2 seconds to climb on the brakes though.

    laser is very directional, like shooting a gun .. when they aim at you and received a jam it most likely came from you.

    anyone jump in if I'm wrong...

    very cool! I don't actually have the LI, but had been looking at them for a time when laser jamming had not yet become illegal in CA

    Any flat surface on the front of your vehicle is a direct return of the beam, and is why Ca. makes the front Lic plate manditory as it helps with the direct return of the beam and aids with the timing of the returned beam.

    Cop needs a 37 1/2 degree or more reflectional surface. aka license plate, headlights, chrome bumper...etc. If you install jammers in those locations he need to "mark" you somewhere else. By then you should be slowed down!

    He has to visually estimate your speed first then hit you.
