Is a coilover better than a strut for general highway and secondary road use too?

You don't have struts you have shocks. Regardless of what you use, the front end will over be a coil over type suspension... Care to put some more information in your question? Are you considering different brands of lift?

Thanks. Yes, I am comparing OME to Icon.

Both are "coil overs". That being said, the OME will give a better hiwy ride.

You would need to get heavier springs.

800 lbs up front? OME has different spring rates for their coils. Icons are adjustable and can be custom valved. 800 lbs payload isn't that big of a feat for the Tacoma.

I know you have icons up from too, but mine are way smoother than my toytecs on the hwy! The higher speeds and having them at 2.5", i think theyre great for hwy!

I realize you had both OME and now Icons so you're in a good position to compare. Overall how are you likeing those 2.5" rears? After having these fronts I'm sold on the rears!

I love them. I'll probably take some more low speed dampening out of them, to make them a little softer, but Im going to play around with rear spring rates first. DSM took some of the low speed dampening out of the fronts and rears for me, to give a smoother on road ride. Kinda the "best of both worlds" so to speak.

Ya, I know what you mean by low speed dampening.....in the rocks they were pretty stiff lol!
Prob figure it out when i decide what springs to go with......either deavers and have hardly any lift? or AP standards even though the lengths don't match up?

Keep us posted man and next mod day maybe we can cruz around so I can decide?

Im thiking I might try the Icons again. The AP's are way to firm for our trucks (My oppinion), and I like the ride the Icons give. Being as I sold my boat, Im not gonna have much weight in the back anymore, so I can soften it up a little. I'd be down for giving a ride. Ive given a ride to a few folks here....Scott, Pinal, Cortland, and they love the ride. I was going down a road in front of my house, at 45 mph, and yanked the wheel into the dirt (rough stutter bumps), and you couldnt tell the difference, 'cept for the noise :)
