Just put the first coat on this bug body. "Graphite dust" is what the color is. Kind of a metallic charcoal. I'm not patient enough to paint... Especially metallic colors.

Fear, I read so much on the DEX408 last night, I feel like I designed it, lol. I sure like the layout of it and the Serpent 811e. It just makes sense to have a lower CG and better axial balance with these layouts.

Durango has a habit of releasing their CAD designs before they release the product (ie: DEX408 and the DEX210) and other companies use their ideas (TLR22 and the 811be).

Saddle packs make much more sense with these larger 1/8th E-buggies, because of the size of 4s LiPo packs.

I believe we will see new buggies from TLR and AE before this year's IFMAR Worlds in December.

It just seems those were designed as E-buggies from scratch, not a redone nitro. I swear I thought the same concerning AE, X-Ray, Losi and even others rethinking there overall designs. I know the RC8.2e is fairly new, but how many would they want to sell before justifying another redesign and retool?

Rattle can from the LHS. I just got in a hurry and didn't do light coats at wide intervals like I should've. It'll look ok after I put the rest of the color on. It's just a basher body for a family friend. Maybe this way I'll be more patient when painting my OFNA.

What would you recommend as a max amount of time to leave the first color masked? Right now I'm at work too much to spend a whole day on paint. 10 hour shifts at a minimum.

Also, really like those JConcepts tires. They make them in a regular 2.2 stadium truck size?

It helped when the company who owned Durango allowed them to do their own thing. Horizon drove Losi into the ground and Thunder Tiger cheapened AE.

Durango took the DEX410 and blew it up

the RC8.2 came about because the geometry of the og RC8 sucked, so AE drafted the suspension parts of the Kyosho MP9. They did this for the 2010 Worlds.

Hmmm.... Those might just replace these trenchers when they eventually wear out.

I want to make sure the paint has at least started to cure, not dry, but to harden. If you pull the mask to soon, it will lift the paint up with it, especially if using heavy coats. At least a couple of hours, I "try" not to get in a hurry, but sometimes I use a hairdryer to speed the process. I mostly use water based paint now days, it cures a little faster it seems, and don't stink up my shop.

OK, I see. So just the .2e is newish, not the .2 correct? Again, I've never really followed 1/8 scale stuff that closely. Do you run any 1/10 stuff at all? I've read that stadium truck is kinda making a come back after the SC craze, who knows. I love the 1/8 buggy, and I've never claimed to be a great driver, but it seems a little easier to me than 2wd 1/10 scale, where throttle control is so critical. I've recently driven some B44s, there fun as well.
