    I am not blowing people out of the box but the radio is good for what I need it for. I have had it peaked and tuned so it isnt stock. The antenna have been tuned as well. I think it has great range for the type of radio it is being used for. I am not trying to talk cross country or anything but since I had it peaked and tuned its a great setup and it fits great in my truck.

    I have used a number of different setups in both pickups, trucks, and logging equipment. I have used this exact setup in at least 4 pieces of logging equipment and 2 pickups. (Of course I don't have pics - but these are perfect) For a run-of-the-mill not breaking the bank setup he has it nailed. Range should be 2-5 miles depending on terrain ... which is enough for most users. As other posters have said SWR (tuning your whip) power output and antenna are critical - I would agree but would add that the Antenna properly tuned is number one and most easily done; a solid mount like this one is more better than a magnetic mount. .02

    I am also running the Cobra 18 and find it to be more than adequate. CB sits about 3/4" out further then deck but I will fix that soon!

    pretty easy, cut a round hole in the headliner the size of the speaker, then the speaker faceplate has screw studs to accept screws from the back side, drilled 4 holes for them, and used flattened out budlight caps as washers and screwed from the back side...wire goes down the a-pillar.

    Go to Radio Shack and pick up a SWR meter (20-30 bucks) or find a member who has one local. Its really easy

    usin my dads old realistic trc-474 velcroed on top the dash and wired to a 102" stainless whip mounted behind the cab, works great for its age no problems at all and great reception/range.
