^ what the derp? If you're doing a custom bedcage/shockhoop/brace like he has, why not just relocate the tabs so they're on the same side?

 

Serious question though. For my rear long travel, I've come to a bit of a bump in the design phase. I know what my front will be running (TC modified with all heim links, King, chopped/modified spindles)-it's pretty straightforward. But when talking to my fabricator, we couldn't see eye to eye on the rear end. He's never done cantilever on a taquito, and is recommending shock hoops. But i want to retain my bed, my bedspace, and the toolbox in my bed. I'm thinking cantilever will fit under the toolbox with minimal cutting into the bed. Any thoughts, opinions? He's still figuring out what each route would cost to fab, but i though you LT guys could shed some light in the meantime.

why are you cutting the bed for a cantilever?

 

My thoughts exactly. When he said that, i was lost because based on everyones build pics, i thought cantilever setups went under the frame/bed where the spare would go. Or possibly forward of the axle. That's why i don't know if i trust this guy to do my rear end. Or maybe i heard him wrong or misunderstood.

 

who is your guy doing the work...i either know him or could find out if he is legit

 

I think there was a Tacoma and a tundra where the cantilever were placed in the bed.

I think he ran with Justin during the Boneyard days, but I only met the guy recently.

 

There is a guy with cantilevers in front of the axle up in the bed (nelsonmatt knows who) that has pictures and a video around here somewhere. And there is mikesdoublecab just had engage do a cantilever rear of the axle kind of in line with the frame. Those both have cut up beds but still a ton of bed space

 

If you really dont wanna cut up the bed, look at the Off Road Evolution setup for Jeep JK's, it will give you some pretty good ideas...

Mike had his bed cut for cantilever? I didnt see any cuts when i looked at the set up, but i may have missed it

 

ive been to his shop before but the only thing i got done there was have my king shocks charged he has a bunch of projects in his shop but dont know how legit he is though. just go to adam he'll hook you you, he's worked on matts, cory, pretty much all of the 8 0 5

 

It may not be cut for the cantilever, I might be confusing the chase rack. I know he has a ton of bed space though
