It shouldnt cost you anymore to get fixed, mine cost $250 and one side completely failed and the other side was starting, I have yet to see a post where boths mounts have failed. THe passengers side tends not to fail as much as the drivers side. Dont worry too much about it. You should be fine for the time being till money isnt so tight.

Right now I'm fairly easy on my truck (off road that is) due to my lack of sliders and skids. Once I get some armor it'll be different. I'm planning on keeping this truck a long time so I'd rather reinforce it sooner for peace of mind than worry about it later on down the road.

haha I dont know about wise but Ive done a lot of research on it. It also depends on where you go, someone might give you some bullshit story on if you get it fixed after its failed and charge you A LOT more but its different with every company/person you go to so expect the price to vary. Hopefully it wouldnt be more then say 600 or so

I've got an 05 4x4 v6 access cab long box mfg in 11/04. I haven't looked at the mounts yet. However, I have noticed fair bit of axle hop when having fun in the deep snow we had in January. At least I assumed it was axle hop. I have original suspension bits in the back. No TSB done here. I was out of warranty when that came out.

Anyway, after reading this here, I am wondering if perhaps I have some excessive motion up front as well. Any of you guys who had broken mounts sense any excessive powertrain motions?

I have't done any hardcore wheeling, but I tow a fair bit. I have also put other stresses on my truck, including using the 4Low setting of the transfer case to extricate vehicles in ditches and stuck in snow.

I go offroad several times a year, and it has done some cool hill climbs and berm hopping. So far this truck has not let me down WRT it's mechanical abilities. I will be checking my mounts hopefully this weekend.

Thanks to all who have put time, effort, and dollars into this.

Crawl under the truck and look. You will see if they failed or not.

^^^^yeah as Snyperx said get under there and check. Also you might notice that your engine fan is hitting on your fan shroud and making a loud clicking noise or something of the sort, its pretty annoying. Which means your mounts have collapsed (probably on your drivers side) and that you're gonna need to get it fixed because the engine is basically just moving wherever it wants.

Well I checked my 2005 (mfg date 11/04). It has about 140,000 kms on the clock. That is about 85,000 miles.

The motor mounts are OK. So how many have been certified as failed anyway?

My passenger side mount is starting to crack and you can see rust starting. Drive side looks ok! Will be fixing ASAP.

I just bought an 05' 4.0, Access Cab, 6 Speed, TRD Off Road package. I wish I saw this sooner. I didn't slide under the truck before I bought it and it's about 2 1/2 hours away. I don't pick it up till Saturday. Luckily, I have a friend with a lift and an assortment of welders and scrap metal. Thank you for this info!

    Hey --
Have been keeping an eye on this thread for a while --
seems to just be off-roaders who are having the bulk of the issues. Since we know that Toyota re-inforced / "gussetted" the welds post-'05, will those of us street-only guys/gals with '05s be able to ask for some help from Toyota in a few years when ours start failing?

Probably only if you are still within the warr period. I plan on following up on this just before it expires. Matbe there will even be a TSB on it.

The reinforced mounts came out sometime in late '06, so early '06s have the old style mounts. Mine did. 99% of people with the old mounts will probably be fine. That said I think they were poorly designed. I don't like the frame at all actually. I had mine reinforced because with my luck, I'd be in the 1% crowd.

my reinforced welds that I had done for $250 are doing awesome! Holding up great and Ive had no problems. Now I just have transmission problems (automatic), its been like that WAY before the mounts failed now Im just going to try to see if Toyota will actually do something or not. Also my wheel bearings or hub on my drivers side are going out

Thanks!! Gonna check tonight. I will say I'm at 76,000+ without any problems so far. Any one know of other issues for the '05?

I've got an issue with a squeaky bushing or leaf spring on the left rear. Probably just dust, it's been washed and spray lubed without affect. :(

I don't know about the others, but the sales dude said my 09 had break away motor mounts....Maybe upgradeable ?
They are only supposed to break away during a nose dive off a cliff or similar accident...

All cars and trucks have these. They break in the middle...not at the frame.

The salesman ( who by the way is now hard to find ) made it seem like it was a new feature....

Does every car buying experience feel the same ?

Guess I needed to do more research, but it's never enough...
My rotors pulsated right out of the box, and after an hour and a half they said they can only cut them, not replace....Removing more metal will make them dissipate heat even worse than before...and pulsate quicker...and too, why did it pulsate out of the gate ?...most likely improper wheel torque but there are more possibilities than just that...Still trying to resolve that one...good luck
