Different black plastic fender flare questions

I think they are. The one thing I would suggest that you check is the driver side rear - check the fuel cap cutout to make sure they are in the same place on the longer beds - I am pretty sure they are, but just check it. Other than that there should not be any difference.

 

It will never be done. Although I have not spent that much on my truck - at least not nearly as much as some other guys here. Mine is a third vehicle and just sits in the driveway all day, so I can't justify spending too much on it. I do want to keep it nice though since I have decided to never sell it, even though I don't need it - it has become part of me.

I might have to give that "Forever Black" a try.

I've pondered the idea of painting mine many many times, but being that I have a wider stance and don't run mudflaps, it would only be a matter of time before the paint started to chip. Repainting them would be alright, but it would be more involved as to do it properly they would need to be completely sanded down each time.

Right now I coat them with Armorall after every wash and yes, it does eventually wear off, especially after a lot of rain. I like the idea of dying them black rather than paint for the above reasons.

 

That stuff looks very intriguing... doing some research on it I found this:

Please Note: Forever Black Bumper & Trim Dye is intended for porous, textured surfaces. Smooth plastic, vinyl, and rubber may not be able to absorb the dye and it will therefore streak.

I wonder if it would be alright for my fiberglass flares?

 

good post. My friend had some Fblack and let me use some on my front bumper (01' Taco), the results were great. I bought some myself to use on my fender flares and while it did make them black again, the end result isn't perfect. I don't think it absorbed as well cause of the smoothness of the flares. Still looks better than it did. I may paint them myself some day.

 

Do you remember where you might have found the clips for 20 cents?

 

IIRC I got them from fastenal, but the price is now $11 for 10. I am sure I paid less than that.(maybe I am just getting old)

How many of each are used per fender flare?

 

If I counted correctly it is 2 blue per fender and 5 red in the rear with 4 red in the front

I thought it was the other way around. 2 reds per flare and the rest blue. But don't quote me on that, I will have to check.
