For a kid who is nine and wants a trophy truck style, you wanna look at 2wd "Short Course Trucks"

The popular, big name trucks right now are the Team Associated SC10 (What I have) The Traxxas Slash, HPI Blitz, Losi xxx-sct and.. that's about all I got off the top of my head.

Those are all 1/10th scales. All roughly a little over a foot long, I think.

In other news this body I'm painting turned out looking like dog shit. The purple is waaaay too thin. Too late to fix it. The only thing I can do now is paint the outside instead of the inside.... :anonymous:

t4, I think I might send a body or two your way and let you work some magic on them. A tundra "shelfer" type body, along with an extra for the Ofna.

Dangle, what batts did you just get, and from where and $? It seems my old trusty Thunder Powers are getting tired, (over four years old, countless cycles) seems my run times are slipping a bit, but they just don't seem as "punchy" the second half of the pack.

Was the purple a "candy" or flor color? Some have to be backed with silver or white. Even some pearls need it as well.

Agree, I would also suggest electric, another thing is you should visit local hobby shops, not necessarily to purchase the truck there, but for one, to compare prices and two, to see what brands they carry, as I would prefer to purchase something that has more parts available locally in case something breaks (after you have narrowed down your choices)

I have 5 Gens Ace batteries.

Just got 2 of these. (I've only had time to run one. Plenty of punch and just slightly less runtime than my 5800mah but they weigh about the same) http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-50c-5000-2s1p-hardcase-2222.html

One of these (Easily 35 minutes of runtime) http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-45c-5800-2s2p-hardcase.html

One of these (Great Value) http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-30c-4000-2s1p-hardcase-direct.html

One of these (Lighter than the last one and similar performance) http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-25c-4000-2s1p-hardcase-direct.html

Those 5000mah 50C batts are probably the best value out of all that I have.

When you get to looking more and more you'll notice some of the Ready To Run trucks are waterproof, etc. I would highly recommend that for a younger kid.

It was a metallic purple. Too thin of coat before I sprayed the bedliner...

    Fuck it. I don't give a shit.

the only thing with it, is there is not much aftermarket support.

I'd suggest the 2wd Slash, or HPI Blitz for your nephew. Those two are some of the more basher friendly trucks and there is ton of aftermarket support for the Slash.

Fear, I noticed in another thread you stated you had a Pentax K1000. I got one for Christmas in 1976 or so, still have it, still takes great pics but needs a battery for the light meter. I've got a little Nikon D40 and a couple of lower end lens I fiddle with some. I would love to take a class or two. I always been interested in photography and keep at least a little PowerShot in my truck at all times.
