Eric, I noticed in the OP you offer the IFS skid in 1/4'' but you don't mention offering 1/4'' in the other 2 skids. If I ordered all 3 can I get them all in 1/4''? If so, what would be the additional costs for the other 2?

I'm not sure if he would do 1/4 or not, but IMO you don't need 1/4 for the other two.

If you want extra strength, bracing the mid skid is the way to go. As far as the t-case skid goes, I just don't see anyone bending that.

    Just my .02.

if you really wanted 1/4" on all I could to it, but youd be required to do the rerouted cross over due to the thickness of the plates cutting into the space for the cross over cutout in the tcase skid.
IMO, its not necessary to run 1/4" on all though, and a little bracing like Max mentioned would be sufficient.

    Eric,

I know that shipping through Fastenal cant be tracked like a normal package, but do you have any idea when my skids shipped? I know my name was changed to red over a week ago, so I figured the skids would be here by now. Didn't figure it would take more then a few days to ship from Reno to the Salt Lake area. Thanks in advance if you can shed some light on this.

Adding to what he^ said, is there any kind of order number we're supposed to have? Or can I just call fastenal, give them my name and tell them I'm looking for a set of skids to see if they came in yet?

Not sure about the order number or anything like that, but I know that when my bumpers arrived via Fastenal they just called me and let me know. They should have your contact information assuming that you gave it to Eric who would have given it to Fastenal. So the calling them option should get you info on where they were last, but if they were at your local Fastenal they should have called you.

Well, they go from here down to modesto ca, then out from there. SLC should be only a few days out, so I'd imagine they're there waiting on monday. Just check in with the store and let them know what you're looking for. They should call, but some stores have been known to not call sometimes.
Probably the same boat as him. Sorry I cant be more specific.

    +1

Side note, For those that were talking about using duplicolor bed armor on the skids, does anyone know how well paint sticks to the bed armor? I have the stuff on my bumpers and it has held up well so far, but I was considering covering the skids in it and then painting them green to match the rest of the stuff on my truck. Similar to this build: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-builds/145360-tuff-enuff-pink.html Thoughts?

A friend of mine with one of my bumpers on a 90's Toyota pickup laid down duplicolor bedliner and then some construction equipment orange paint(he likes orange a lot. lol) and he says its been holding up crazy good. He's hit a few things with the bumper, and I have yet to see it scraped off or chipping from rocks.

Sounds like I will have to give it a try. Also on the note of Bed Armor. I had three cans of the spray stuff quit working on me when I was coating my bumpers. two were about half empty when it happened and one quit after a few seconds of spraying. I checked the nozzles and that wasnt the problem. Anyone else run into this issue or know how to avoid it? Other than the obvious dont use the stuff remarks.

definitely the nozzle, or at least a clog within the can where the nozzle presses on.
I've had it happen a couple times. You just need to shake the can more to mix it better. Its chunks of the liner in the can clogging it. I shake for a couple minutes before using, then give a few shakes every minute or so of spraying and it hasnt happened again since I've begun doing that.

Thats kinda what I figured it was. I guess I will just have to shake it more this time around. Thanks for the info.

Also, if one starts to clog... Immediately stop trying to spray down the part, then turn to where some overspray wont matter, and hold the can upside down while shaking and spray. It'll help keep it from clogging completely; Kind of saves the can.
Also, hold it upside down and spray when you're going to put the can down between coats so it clears out the nozzle and doesnt dry up and clog it.

As you might notice, the stuff can be kind of a headahce to use, but worth it IMO. Just got to know all the tricks. :D
