275/70r17

Haven't heard of anyone that has been running this size tire in my searches. Put on Goodyear silent armors in 275/70r17 and like them a lot. Not many miles on them yet, but they are nice and quite, ride well and are smooth running down the road at 70 mph.
All stock 2012 TRD sport, front mud flaps off, no rubbing on the street, haven't had them off road yet, just some dirt roads and a sand run. This is roughly a 32x11 tire on my little Tacoma, nice. This looks to be about as big I could go on my truck without doing some cutting. I'll dig out the camera and take some pics to post.

I have 275/70/17 Hankook ATm's on stock Sport alloys

 

No rubbing any where for me. Stock TRD sport wheels. The slight increase in tire width helps in the bottomless sand we have down here. Running 35 psi right now, so it didn't help having that much air in them in the sand, and they did great. Still have the little front air flaps on the front wheel well. Can notice the added weight of these tires compared to the stock Dunlops, the Silent Armors weigh in at 53lbs, the stockers were like 35ish. Noticed a slight drop in pick up, but of course was expecting it.

 

Looks good man, fills the wheel wells out nice. Im thinking of running this size as well, but with Cooper Discoverer AT3s. You got a lift or just stock?

 

How are those Hankooks working for you, OZ-T ? Was looking at that tire also, just went with local Goodyear dealer. Dura Tracs in this size would have went on, this size is perfect for my truck. No lift, all stock, front mud flaps off, rears on. Might trim fronts to put back on, we'll see.

 

Are you running stock 17's

 

They are a good tire , less noisy than the Hankook MT's I had before , and better in snow .

They do grab and chuck rocks worse than my MT's did though .

FYI , contrary to some of the online advertising , these tires in 275/70/17 are NOT available in anything but an E rated , 10 ply LT

 

Ahh, didn't want an E rated tire. The Goodyear dealer didn't have the 265/70r17's C rated in stock but had some pro-grade, and E rated tire, in that size. Drove on them for one day, had them down to 34 psi and they were still to stiff in the side wall, they are made for one ton trucks after all. These 275/70r17's are C rated and drive and ride a lot better, have 35 psi in them right now.

 

Which tire did you end up with ?

 

Have the 275/70r17's on now. These are a C rated tire, ride great and nice and quiet.

Duh, sorry. Goodyear Silent Armor. Went to the local dealer, sighed up for the credit card deal and got $160 off the price. Out the door mounted and balanced, life time rotation and road hazard, for right at a grand. Was going to go more aggressive, but when I thought about it, I'm on the road like 99% of the time if not more. Why punish myself for that 1 percent with a loud bad ridding tire. Like these Silent Armors I do. They seem to do real well off road, better then expected.

 

I'm running that size too in Cooper AT3s. I love the look of 285/70 but most of my driving is on the interstate and I didn't want to completely kill my gas mileage with a 33" tire. I'm happy with this size as well. The main reason most people don't run this size is because the options are limited as compared to the 265/70 or the 285/70. I got my Coopers for $790 delivered from Discount Tire Direct.

 

Just checking in...no rubbing on the tire at all? Don't need spacers or anything? Thanks!

 

No rubbing on my totally stock 2012 TRD sport, don't think I could go any one bit bigger tho.

 

have these affected your gas mileage much? i'm currently running stock 16's so i know moving up to the 17's will affect mine slightly, just wondering if you've noticed a huge difference in yours?

also, i have a prerunner sr5 so do you think these would fit on my truck with it still being stock? not sure if your stock suspension is a lot different than mine

 

Gas milage has gone down of course, lost about 2 mpg. These particular tires weigh quite a bit more then the stock Dunlops, I think that's where a lot of the milage went.
No idea if these will fit a pre-runner or not,... might.
