That is a composite image of several exposures rotated ever so slightly to keep the stars aligned (so they appear as pin points of light and not streaks). That is why the sky is clear and the foreground is streaked and blurry.

You'd be better off to start with something like this...find the north star, keep it in your frame and do a long exposure to get the star trails.

Or this...'painting' objects with flashlights. Have the others in the group help out and wave flashlights at the rocks, trucks, whatever to light them up evenly.

Or this...set up flashlights in the tents (or cab lights in the trucks) and see what happens.

    Mornin fellas

So apperently I'm the only one who can constantly get a good night sleep just by plopping into bed and shutting off the light? I can also sleep on a rock, I can fall asleep just about any where.

The ultra guage calibration method did not work very well. I lined up on a mile marker, reset the data then drove 4 miles and lined up on that mile marker and entered 4 miles in. Comparing the new data to both my phones gps and the mile markers i was now reading about 4 mph too high. So i just set my cruise and played with the calibration numbers until the ultra gauge mph matched my gps mph. That was much closer to matching the mile markers after that.

I think I found a better method for calibrating the ultragauge. I zeroed out the trip data and then I found an app on my phone that uses the phone's gps to keep track of how many miles I travel. The app I used, "Android-Speedometer", keeps track of your miles travelled out to the 1000th place which is what the UG does as well for calibration. Before my calibration number was 1.82, but it was still a little low. I was losing about .15 miles every 10 miles I traveled according to the mile markers on the highway. I traveled over 30 miles and put the data in the UG and my new calibration number is 1.90. I have yet to test it out but that sounds a little better.

Edit: Hmm... Actually I think I meant to put 1.082 and 1.090... and I don't think there is a way to check this number without changing it...

Hey Ben, I traveled 119.1 miles according to my odo on 6.602 gallons of gas. I just multiply 119.1 by 1.09 and then divide my 6.602 for my actual fuel mileage right?

Oh yeah, 15000! Although it is a wee bit behind thanks to the bigger tires. haha
