I've always changed the oil on every new vehicle I have ever bought at 1000 miles... Basically, after break-in...

I'm coming up on 1000 miles for my '09 Tacoma...

    What's the general concensus?

    It's a personal preference.

For me, I didn't really care one way or the other. I think I did mine at 2500miles or something like that.

This is too funny ... my Taco will hit 1,000 miles this weekend.

I will be changing oil & filter this weekend. After 1st 1,000 miles, I switch to Mobile 1.

IMO ... the best oils are in the ... "Class 4 Category" .... i.e. Amsoil.

    I think that Purple K is a Class 3 ??

    IMO ... Regular Castrol GTX (Class1 ??) is a good "Dino Oil" .... and I think that Mobile 1 is a Class 2 ... ??

so i used, Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platnium and Valvoline Synpower... they all seem fine to me. Mobile always costs more, so I'll get it if it goes on sale on wal-mart, otherwise the others will do fine for me!

Id change the oil at 1,000 miles, then change it at 5,000 miles and change it every 5,000 miles after that regardless of what oil/filter you are using.

So, guess I'll stick to it...
