2012 Toyota Tacoma rearview camera option retrofit?

    I have
    $28 a2012 japanese kewpie mayonnaise - 17.64 oz. (pack of 3)
    a2012 Toyota Tacoma without the rearview camera option. Can it be retrofitted by myself or the dealer? I have to plugs in a plastic that were in the glove box that reference to a rear view camera and I noticed the rear tailgate has a harness already installed. appears that all I would need is the rearview mirror assy and camera unit. any suggestions? thanks

    bought oem camera from Amazon for 152.00 and auto dimming mirror with video from eBay for 126.00 took about ten minutes to install both.works great dealer told me it could not me retrofitted. both items were genuine Toyota as far as I could tell. don't have any idea what they would cost from a dealer though.

    Do you have the specific brand/part numbers for the camera and mirror? Or the specific link to the ones you purchased? Those are good prices.
    Another question, how did you get to the wiring in the cab for the mirror?

    The wiring was already there. Basically plug and play. Just did a search on eBay for Tacoma rear view with camera and Amazon had link to b&a computer that has the OEM camera I think all tacos have wiring for this

    Just take the panel off the inside of the tailgate and you will see the wiring hooked uP to a dummy camera

    I have a rearview mirror with compass, temp, and 3.4 inch video screen available. It is the OEM autodimming model. I will be removing it from my 5 day old 2013 Tacoma.

    I am upgrading to the Homelink model. Let me know if anyone is interested.

    i just bought from Rod myself. what a stand up guy. clear communication, and he backs up what he sells.

    I got my OE mirror and camera from him, toyota parts, plugged them in, and everything worked, nothing else to do :)

    2009 Tacoma V6 4x4 base model
    So I have a 2009 4x4 access cab. It looks like the tailgate has the camera in it. I heard someone say its a dummy camera and it will not work? Does someone know if the base model like my 2009 come with the camera? I dont have the rear view mirror with video function but thinking about getting it.
