Best Place for the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller

Thought I'd post a picture of where I mounted my Prodigy P2 brake controller inside the cab of my 2012 Taco. Looked everywhere and decided here. The extra plug and play cable had to be cut and lengthened to make it work. but that's why God made butt connectors and shrink wrap.
1. Used a good amount of velcro
2. Drilled hole one inch from the top of the compartment
3. Easy access to run the cable
4. The harness hookup is there about 13" above the floor inside the left kick panel.
5. Used the wire from the factory supplied hookup to extend the length of my plug and play harness.

 

I mounted mine there but i centered it in that opening. I bought a new travel trailer and the RV technichian installed it just to the right of the steering column. I had to move my leg to see it. This seems to work alot better now. Nice job

 

What are you towing?

Did you just buy the brake controller and no other adapter? I am looking at etrailer site and see they have options for connectors.

I have an 2012 with tow package and a factory connector.

You should have the connector if you have the towing pkg. Check your glove box.

 

it won't be in the glove box. You have to pull the left kick panel off that's by your left foot. It will be a white connector about 15" above the floor. It does want to hide.

I think he meant the pig tail for the controller. I spent an hour looking for mine tonight. It was wrapped up and wedged behind a pack of wired high up under the dash. I had climbed right under and finally caught a glimpse of the white adapter tucked up high. Took another 10 minutes of yanking and tugging. It was ridiculous how hard it was to locate.

 

I looked and gave up. I drove 10 miles to a local dealer and an nice guy helped me (he didn't know where it was either), why T makes it so hard is beyond me.
I purchased the controller cable that's plug and play for 8.00 and very happy.

 

Thanks guys. I gave up that day cause I was running late. End up pulling a travel trailer home without the brake controller.

I will try to locate it again when my prodigy p3 comes in the mailbox.

 

You just snapped the kick panel off along with the side rail piece first? I tried a little but didn't move (hate to brake those plastic thing).

Can some one please confirm these wire matching from the factyory harness connector to the P2 Harness
Factory Harness - > P2
Black and Red -> Black
Brown -> White
Green and White -> Red
Red -> Blue
Green : Doesnt go anywhere

 

Also put mine in the cubby hole in front of the shifter. Looks neat and its not gonna get knocked around when I get in and out of the truck.

 

How is your Taco doing pulling the trailer? I believe you mentioned a 3000lbs. trailer.
