Well I just got my new Tacoma and not even a week later I get a reasonable prudent speeding ticket. Does anyone know what this means and how much it will generally cost? I know it varies by state but I just want a general idea of the damage :D

depends on how fast you were going and if it was a local cop or state trooper. oh and by forum rules no talk of speeding or breaking the law lol

but at least this thread is in the right section

Damn well I don't even think I was speeding anyways it's just a tourist town so cops are bad here. I wouldn't call it breaking the law

First ticket won't be a big deal as far as insurance goes it should have on the ticket the cost of the fine and points added because of it. Take it to court and plead guilty and odds are they will drop it to a lower fine/point amount. For future reference don't speed and just avoid all of this in the first place.

It doesn't even sound like a real major thing just bc of the reasonable prudence part of it. It's not reckless driving or anything tht is common I guess

Reasonable prudent pretty much means that the cop thought you were going to fast but couldn't radar you or something along those lines. My bet is you were going to fast and he wanted you to slow down but not give you a speeding ticket.
Everyone has got a speeding ticket (s) so give the op a break about needing to slow down.

Thanks man. Yea he said I was clocked in but said he would give me that instead and that he gave me a break. I haven't had a speeding ticket in a long time so it's not like I'm a speed demon everywhere I go either

Not true. Plenty of drivers have never been ticketed. I have been driving since I was 16. I am 48. Never been pulled over or ticketed. Never even had a parking ticket.

Not saying I am hollier than thou. Just saying that many drivers have never been ticketed.

How would this thread get locked? He was speeding and got a ticket. Not asking how fast our trucks could go on the highway.

First ticket I got was $190.00 for speeding on the beach. The speed was 25mph. I was going 40mph.

I think i got luck though. I thought my ticket was going to be between $200-$400.
