The 255/85r16 is a semi-commonly used size here. WITHOUT getting into the extensive debate of tire width, skinny vs wide, what are some OTHER options or tires you guys have run in a 255 width? It seems 33" MTs are the most common, any other 255s out there worth checking out? Maybe some 32s. . ? Maybe not?

Yeah man, wondering who is actually running them I guess, and what brand/type

255/80r16 is one size I've been considering, just not exactly a prevalent selection or review base

255/80/16 is a pretty small tire , I would consider 265/75/16 if you are going to run that size , it's only 3/8" wider , lots more selection

cooper ST is probably the least aggressive.

I ran them for a while, they vibrated like crazy and wouldn't balance because I was retarded and bought them blemished off ebay. Learned my lesson.

Edit: I ran the 255/85/16's and measured them out to just over 33" tall.

I have 255/85/16 Cooper S/T, HORRIBLE tires they were great the first 10K. I'm at 30K now and they are About 19-20 months old and they are cracking under the tread blocks and they don't stick on wet or dry pavement anymore.

My next set of 255/85/16 are gonna be km2's, but in the next couple weeks i'm getting 265/75/16 M/S2's just for the street.

Yup, I've read both of you guy's input and many others on multiple threads about those, and they definitely catching my attention as my most likely size for my next tire. Just figured I'd see if anyone else is running skinnys in a different configuration.

Oz, I'm running 265/75 now, I like em, just feeling out other 255 options if their even are any. I've got a long time before I eat through these tires so I'm not too rushed on my next selection. Liking the idea of a skinny for the snow here as well as the weight/rolling resistance reduction

Type of tire has a lot to do with snow performance too , I went from 265/70/17 Hankook MT's to 275/70/17 Hankook ATm's , wider but better in snow

The OP is asking about 255 options OTHER THAN 255/85/16

My friend has the km2's. He had them siped and he says they stick like crazy in the winter and they are beasts offroad. They kick my tire's ass on any terrain even when mine were new.

He didn't specify what size ratio, just width.

Yup, I've narrowed down what ATs are rated for snow and have the reviews to match, I'm running pro comp xtreme all terrains right now just because the dealer messed up my BFG AT size when I picked up my truck so I got these free as a replacement. They do well and are stud compatible but like I said, just wondering of there are any reputable 255s out there worth consideration that I have overlooked. Already done my homework on the 85/16s

    oops, didn't notice that:eek:

Honestly I wouldn't bother with any other 255's, choices are limited and you don't get the height like you do with the 85 series 255's.

Found some 255/75/17 Silent Armor ATs for anyone who cares. Skinny 32" option. I like my 16" wheels though too

I was gonna mention 255/75/17 Hankook ATm's but saw you had 16" wheels

Anyone know why 255/85/16's are so expensive?
