haha your "beat the fuck out of it" approach didnt do squat for me! i really hope the puller works because if not i dont know what im going to do. flattened part of the the spindle with my BFH tool before the bj was ever popping out

 

EVERY SINGLE TIME i go to change the oil in my dad's 06 250 f i seem to have to call yamaha and go on the internet and get into a fight with my dad because the drain plug is in the weirdest spot, we always forget where the hell it is. i remember it now, but all last year it was funny as hell getting into an argument every time we went to change the oil. every time we said we would remember, and that now that we found it, it wouldn't be a problem. but the next time it was always 15 minutes of staring at the thing scratching our heads trying to figure out where the dam drain plug was.

 

you don't have to pull the BJ out of the spindle to replace the boot. just have to separate the UCA from the spindle. Get some PB blaster and start soaking the BJ a few days ahead of time. there is a cir-clip that holds the boot in place over the BJ. you'll need two small flat blade screwdrivers to get the clip out. and you can use your fingers to put the new on in. feel free to send me pictures as you go and I will do my best to guide you though it.

 

i know that haha. that was the part that i couldn't get when i was doing the lift (that i didnt need to do anyway)

 

Paint markers are your friend. i took one to my drain plug on the truck to the retards at the dealership don't fuck up an oil change. marked the plug and the size.

just makes life a little easier. Good luck getting it apart don't be afraid to heat it up if you have to.

 

the part should be in wednesday, and hopefully i can get it replaced before friday when i want to get out and do a little (probably) solo wheeling just to stretch the legs and make sure everything is good and tight. i would rather have something catastrophically fail 38 miles from home vs 600

 

that's why i have a tow rig coming down JIC.

Had to take a little off the bedsides to accommodate the side supports. Bed side will get a small layer of bedliner to help with the rust. Inside is also braced so that it doesn't move around as much.

 

For what its worth...

The bottom of the boot is held in place by a wire loop that is twisted tight. I would think that the replacement boot will have a replacement wire loop with it because the one on there now will most likely be not re-useable. If the new boot comes with one, just use some wire cutters to clip the old one off.

Adam, the c-clip retainer on this setup is at the top of the spindle. it keeps the bj itself from falling off D) the spindle. It does not need to be removed for this job.

 

wire loop/ cir clip same principles apply.

Nah im not worried. she does great. She is very adventurous for the most part and loves the out doors. Plus..when she gets nervous..she laughs..haha not freaks out haha it'll be fun

 

told her it was 5 days of camping..she doesn't care. She back packs a lot.
