    Hey Guys,

SoJersey and I recently installed a new Sony MEX-BT4000P head unit in my 2006 taco. I got the unit from crutchfield so the dash kit installed was one included for free by crutchfield. After installed, the kit does not seem to be fitting properly. The side edges do not really match up and neither does the ridge that goes across the front. It is also pretty loose in some areas. I have included pictures below. I saw a tacoma at a local store the other day, and noticed his after market kit fit perfectly. Some things I have tried to fix this problem include:

    • Double Side Tape to make the clips bigger
    • Took the yellow clips off of the OEM Stereo and put them on the kit
So I am just looking for a little bit of help on this issue. Any suggestions and insight is greatly appreciated. I also wanted to ask if anyone knows if the Taco Tunes dash sare any different/better from the standard textured kits? Thanks in advance guys! Boom Blaze!:rasta:

If it was me i'd heat that spot with a heat gun to soften it up and mold it into place.

Might be a dumb question... but did you get the clips that go onto the mounting points that secure the thing to the dash?

edit: Here is a picture of where the little plastic clips should go, after the clips are on there, it will snap into the dash pretty securely.

Yes, I actually had to take the yellow stock clips off on the OEM radio and use those because the clips that came with the aftermarket kit were cheap and kept falling out. The kit clips into the dash but as you can see its not flush and is still a little loose. Thanks!

Ok, wanted to double check, the instructions are so terrible that I had to scratch my head looking at my leftover parts to figure that part out!

Yea, mine looks pretty good to me, ended up fitting better than yours does, so I'm not sure what the difference is.

I called Metra and made them send me another piece because of the horrible fit...

Take photos and call them. They will fix you up.

The first Metra kit I got was defective. The part that sticks out where the clips go were 1/3 as long as they needed to be. Included pics comparing it to stock radio which clearly showed the issue yet Crutchfield wouldn't believe that I just got a bad part and thought my truck was different. Asked them to just send me a new one they insisted it would be the same. Got tired of the run around and bought another from Amazon which worked fine. Crutchfield was quick to reimburse me when I showed them I was right from the beginning and went elsewhere to buy the replacement.
