Anyone tried the new folding stock adapter that hit the market recently? If it turns out to be good kit I'll get one for my SBR.

    +1

I love it when the BCM fanbois get all butthurt because someone doesn't believe that BCM is going into battle in the sandbox.

All your big brands are most likely in use in the sandbox, but in the hands of private contractors....

Most people consider if it has a government contract it has withstood government testing therefore it is good to go. Do contractor's privately owned weapons get tested? Probably not unless they buy one that was tested by a govt. agency. I know it was a Bushmaster that made Travis Haley famous, does that mean Bushmaster is king since a military contractor made it famous?

Its kind of a slippery slope. I have found that if you find something that works for you, to stick with it and don't worry about what everyone else thinks about it. They all throw a 5.56 fairly accurately and for the most part in the world beyond the message boards fairly reliably too. Some may have spec parts, some may have some corners cut, the beautiful thing about ARs is you can replace the weaker parts as you please. So try not to get caught up in all this nonsense. We are all just justifying our purchases really.

My response was to the guy who was saying that the only "sandbox approved" rifles are any good and insinuated BCM et al are garbage...

I'm of the opinion that if the parts fit, it passes function check and headspace while going pop when you pull the bangswitch it's GTG.

The only "official" rifles in the sandbox are made by Colt, FN, and now Cerberus (Remmy/Bushmaster) But that's not to say my BCM, PSA, or LMT rifles aren't as as good, or better. But some guy is going to pull out "The chart" and wave it about without really knowing what the chart is saying.

I frankly refuse to own a Colt based on their F the civilian customer attitude over the years, Same reason I won't buy from Spikes.

    I did not say that.

I said that every time an AR thread pops up, a BCM fanboi links to "The Chart" and according to "The Chart" ONLY BCM and Colt are worthy of purchase by anyone.
Though frequently updated, "The Chart" does not always contain accurate information on the BCM competition. Additionally, things that are indicated as being "good" on "The Chart", while not being bad, are not things that are required for a product to be of superior quality.

There is NOTHING wrong with BCM products. I think there might even be a BCM charging handle and BCG hanging around on one of my several rifles.

But BCM is not the end-all-be-all of AR parts.

It'd be freaking awesome if we took all the brand whining and crying back to Arfcom where it belongs.

    My most recent build.

    Mega Arms billet receiver
    Magpul PRS stock
    Krieger 20" custom bull barrel
    Yankee Hill tube
    Young bolt and carrier
    Giselle two stage match trigger
    Ergo PSG style grip

The scope is a loaner, getting a Nightforce when I get back from deployment.

That's a Daniel Defense 16"r. The finish they put on them is a non reflective greenish looking parkerizing.

That rifle is totally different now... I should update the photo.

I'm not reading 93 pages, so sorry if I'm reiterating what someone else said here - I have a S&W M&P15 Sport and it was a great choice for an AR. It was only $600 complete and it's all mil-spec; the only difference between it and the +$900 variant is that it doesn't have a forward assist (which you'll never need in civilian situations) or an ejection port cover (which you will also never need for civilian situations). The trigger guard is machined as part of the lower but it is the 'winter guard' with the bump out for if you're wearing gloves. The beauty of the AR is that once you have the receivers and barrel, you can change everything else however you want it. Just make sure you get mil-spec everything instead of the commercial grade crap

It shoots great. With the weight of the bull barrel, the heavier bolt carrier, and an AR-Restor it doesn't even move off target.
