Coolair for 09 2.7l

Newbe here, I got my new Taco mainly to haul and to hunt. I have many ? 1.I did'nt order the tow pkg. oops, anybody know if the tow pkg. has heavier springs for added load.2. A cool air for the 09 2.7l. 3.can the computer be recalibrated for the bigger tires.

 

I've been trying to find cai for my 09 2.7 but have not had any luck any suggestions?

 

ya, dont waste you money on one. Just remove the secondary air filter and put in a high flow filter

 

Agreed. When I bought my truck two weeks ago it got 22.6 MPG on the highway on the 200 mile trip home driving 70 mph. The first mod I did was to remove the charcoal filter and add an AFE Pro-Dry in place of the factory air filter. I topped off the tank off today after 170 miles of city driving and was pleased to see an average of 23.4 gallons, keep in mind this was stop and go driving no faster than 55 mph. The factory air box is practically a cai in itself, all you have to do is get that restrictive secondary filter out of there and let it breath.

 

i cant find the link, but it has been documented that removing the secondary filter and/or adding an aftermarket filter showed negligible if any gains in power and mpg.

It's a really long thread with several members posting their results after doing the mod. The general conclusions was that if you have a 4.0 don't waste your time with the mod, but those of us with the 2.7L are likely to see improvements. And like 007Tacoma stated in the OP there is no "proof" of this working universally, but there was enough positive feedback for this mod to convince me to do it and I'm happy with the results.

don't know what the hell happened so I'll finnish. I've seen the thread on the sec. Filter rem. sounded easy. any recomendations for the primary filter. (high flow, K+N ?)

 

AFE Pro Dry seems to be a popular choice. I've had mine on for almost a month with no complaints. I like that fact that it's a dry filter element and you don't have to worry about oil getting on your MAF sensor.
