It's not overly new, you can buy DIY kits for small items and dip them in your bath tub. People were doing this for camo print on their badges. It takes a bit of space for larger items because you need a big enough tub to do it in. It's durable because you clear coat over the hydro dip ink so you can treat it like normal paint.

How do you bend a bushing anyways?!?! I can understand a bushing going bad or the LCA bolt not being tight and causing some slop but I don't understand why the bushing would need to be replaced.

^^^ yea I think they told him that they were no good. A bushing wouldn't get bent but the hole could be out of round or it wasn't put in properly and degrade at an accelerated rate. At the time I don't think he believed them because he only had 20K or something on it.

Sounds like warranty work to me. That's crazy for a 2010.

Exactly what I have been saying. Miguel should go to a decent dealership and leave it there until the noise is fixed.

If that hole is out of round, it could mean new LCAs.

Depends on which hole is out of round. If it's the center piece of the bushing, you could just replace the bushing (although in New England, apparently Toyota doesn't do that, they just replace the whole arm). Either way, whether it's a bad bushing or the whole arm, take it to Toyota and let them fix it under warranty. They will try to blame the lift but challenge them to tell you how a lift causes a bushing to fail if it was properly installed to begin with.

My guess is the idiots at Townfair loosened the bolt and didn't retighten, now the bushing is FUBAR'd.

Well not necessarily. If the inside hole on the bushing is not round or if its not concentric, it might make the suspension bind by trying to move in a way its not supposed to. The lift might just exaggerate any kind of condition.

Guys, I'm going to be doing a sort of mini-mod day at my place this Saturday. I'll be replacing the LCA bushings on my Tacoma but if some of you have minor stuff to do or want to help out/learn how to do it yourself, you're welcome to come along. I've got a decent selection of tools but when we did the last mod day at John's, people seemed to bring their own and it made things go quicker.

Shoot me a PM if you're interested, I'm going to keep this one fairly small just because I don't have a lot of parking and I need to get through the work on my truck so it's drivable on Monday for work.

I'm going to get started around 9 since the neighbors will hate me if I start any earlier. I'll be grilling out for lunch and have a decent selection of cold beverages available :D

None yet but soon all black.

Damm dude. Those noises are really loud lol. My truck has nothing on them lol. You deff need to give it some tacoma loving for sure.

As for the bushings. The place I went to said the front lower control arm right bushing was alittle dented and not formed in its shape. Thats why it was making the noise. They also said it happend cause the cam bolt was loose and made it happen. They tighten the bolt and doesnt make the noise now but they that bushing anyways cause it needs to be done soon. They said all the other bushings were fine. I wanna have the dealership fix it under warrenty but They all suck. They dont even wanna look at the truck so I highty duobt there gonna fix it cause they will say its the lift which it stupid but nothing I can do. So I guess I can buy the bushing for about 60 and then see if a shop can put it in for me maybe.H Hopfully its not that much. I dont know alot about mechanics like you guys so replacing them by myself isnt gonna happen. I guess ill have to pay someone to do it.:(

Replacing the bushing shouldn't be that huge of a job, you just press the old one out and press the new one in. It's going to be a job when I do mine because mine rusted in place so the LCA, bushing and LCA bolt are essentially one piece. If yours aren't rusted in place, it shouldn't take long to do it. The bushing is around $60, bolts and cam washers are $20 if you need everything for that location plus the labor to install it. Your other option would be to replace the whole LCA like Toyota would do for $260 (plus bolts if you need new bolts).

Thanks for the infor. I could just replace them myself but idk. So all you gonna do it take the old ones out and press the new ones in and I'm golden?. Mine shouldn't be rusted cause I only have 23,000 on the truck so it should be easy I would thing.

They'll be rusted but you will hopefully be able to press them out. Toyota didn't put anything on the bushings when they were installed to prevent the rust. In short, yes, that's all you'd need to do, then get another alignment since the LCA needs to come off the truck in order to do this.
