Okay, so I know that 265-75-R16 is the largest tire you can't run on a stock suspension, without rubbing. That would change the tire from a stock diameter of 30.61 inches to a new diameter of 31.65 inches, a 1.04 inch difference. I understand the concept that the larger diameter tire would be the largest you could run without a lift. I also know, there are a lot of people on these forms that want to run 285 wide tires. The difference in width of the the stock tires and the 285 tires is only 20 mm. That means adding an additional 10 mm on each side of the tire. What if you kept the tire at the same diameter, just made the tire wider? Could you run 285–65-R16 tires, with a stock suspension? The tire would go from a 30.61 inch diameter tire to a 30.59 inch diameter. Making it .02 inches smaller, and only 20 mm wider. Would the 10 mm on each side of the tire tread rub?

Even at full lock when I had my stock rims, it didn't seem like the was 10 mm away from any of the components on either side. I now have aftermarket rims, and I think they would look better with the wider tire. It is not necessarily something I am going to do in the near future, but I am more curious what would be involved.

I don't know, but this is how I came up with that size...I assumed that it could be found.

(not intended to be a smartass link...it's what I did.)

That's also what I did. That how I know that no one makes an AT tire in that size.

Your overall logic is good though. Several folks on here run 285/60/18 on stock suspension

That is not a size anyone makes as others have said, but in addition, most tire fitment issues come from width, not height. Its easier to fit a taller skinner tire, than a short fatter tire.

That's more what I was getting at. I was curious if it was the width or the height that limited the tire size on our trucks. Everything I've read just says that 265-75-R16 is the largest, with no explanation, just derp comments and BS making fun of someone for asking questions...

+1 for answering, even with the hint of sarcasm...

Im looking for the same thing.. I have a 2.25" lift in front and 1" in the back. I was told at an off road shop that 265/75/16 will hit upper control arm, any truth to that or is this a " buy more stuff to make it work" pitch, I have a 2011 Prerunner TRD Off-Road.

There is a company that makes that size of tire because I have been looking in the same thing for my truck.
