I know at the gym on base, when I had to pull duty there the key to the front door was also used to lock the fire doors before we left. Maybe the same?

I'm curious if you locked the door then wouldn't the internals still work fine? How did it get locked then the key break off if everything didn't work at least to some extent. Or did was it locked and you break it off trying to unlock it?

 

I know the ones in Canada to code have a metal door and a handle/lock on the inside. So they can exit but u cant get it.
