BFG ALL TERRAIN REVIEW

Well, they lasted me 7 years and so far i got 70,000 miles outa them. They were the best tire i have ever had... I had the 32x11.5x15s, they went through everything and anything you can immagine. This weekend they will be coming off for a set of bfg rugged terrains, I would recomend this tire for any terrain possible..... time to test the rugged terrains and let ya'll kno how they do.....

 

So you are going to switch from a all terrain tire to a highway tread tire that looks like an all terrain tire.

Just letting you know the rugged terrain is more looks than anything else. Hope it will meet your needs. I has gotten positive reviews on here when replacing the rugged trail POS.

 

The bfg a/t/ ko is a great tire! I've gone through around 5 sets of them over the years and get about 70,000 miles out of them each time....wouldn't put anything else on a truck.

 

They do look like a highway tire... yes.... but if you look at the tread it has an Awesome pattern on them. I loved the bfg but i wanted something new, this was a newer look. at first look they look like they have little tread on them, but when you put your finger down in the middle of the tire they have PLENTY of tread. Yes, i didnt want to stray away but I just couldnt help myself.... Ill be the monkey to test them haha

 

They have been tested already if you search. It is not a easy search since you typically get rugged trail results. Probably about 5-6 people posted about running them with positive results for a nice quiet tire.

I was all about these when they first came out but then backed off since they are a highway tire. I have seen them in person multiple times. They are a pavement cruising tire. BFG specifically made these to keep mpg up but have the look of a tuff all terrain tire.

Check any major retailer and they are a highway tire. Not trying to prove anything here just letting you know before you buy or if you already have and need a different tire for your needs.

 

i checked them out, they are a highway tire... I dont do much wheeling But I do have to have a tire for my hunting camp.... these seem like they would be perfect thats why I went and got them already.... just waiting on my next payday and im putting a powdercoat on my rims and the new babbys are goin on.... thanks for the info on them tho, i woulda never known. I hate the humming that the kos had hopefully this will be what i need. If not im going back to the Ko.

 

To me that means something, if something has been around that long must be pretty dam good. Have had a number of sets of them ( including running them now) and couldn't be happier every time.

 

Yeah, it means they've been too lazy to redesign a new tread pattern

I agree with Chris16, they're not a bad tire at all, they are certainly tried and true but there are better options out there. Tire tech has evolved, BFG KO's have not.

sidewalls roll in corners
ANY mud and they will bologney skin on you in a second.

I have had teh BFG AT and they were great. Even with driving like a mad man, they went almost 60kmi for me.

 

Rugged Trails came stock on a lot of Tacomas, they arent named Rugged Fails for nothing

 

this again- If you are doing NO offroad, the rugged trail may be OK for you.

A popular tire, indeed... maybe the #1 AT tire out there... But, if they see a lot of off roading, the weakness is their over-rated '3 ply sidewall'... I experienced a sidewall failure and have seen and heard of numerous sidewall failures on the BFG All Terrain TAs... But, there are those who swear by them, still the same.

Cooper (Discoverer ATR), Toyo (Open Country AT) and Hankook (Dynapro ATm) have proven themselves as great AT tires with me... so far!

 

Ooops, maybe I got the wrong tire here. Maybe it was the Rugged TRAIL that came on my FJ with the Offroad package. Those tires did suck it

 

bfg a/t is a damn good tire..i like my terra grapplers a little better, price is mainly what had me sold. i don't think bfgs are worth the money
