The new PC was not seeing the HD. I worked with Dell tech support and determined that the HD was defective, oh crap.

So yesterday morning for grins and giggles I took the power feeds from the DVD drive and put it to the HD and the system came up. I do not know anything about the power buss in a PC power supply so I thought the PS was bad on the one output feed.

When I swapped the power feed back to the proper drives the PC was still able to come back up. In my mind it should have been DOA, I did reseat the power feed with Dell on Sunday and that did not fix the problem.

I talked to Dell to see if the tech could bring a PS with him and the answere was no.


On a positive note I ordered a HD from Newegg on Monday and today it was on sale for $20 less. I chatted with a Newegg rep and they will credit $20 to my credit card. It is reasurring to know that Newegg is a decent company.

I also ordered a second HD to go into the Dell as a mirrored HD. I am running Win 7 Pro so this should be an easy task to accomplish. Right now the new computer is backed up to a NAS, a WD Passport, and soon to a mirrored HD. I still need to do an off site back up to feel really secure.

The two hard drives I ordered yesterday were just delivered.

 

I wonder what thats like.. next day shipping.. been used to waiting minimum a week my whole life..

 

I did not put a rush on it or pay for fast shipping.

Also, I finally let her open the envelope this weekend, tickets to her favourite concert this friday. Actually brought a tear to her eye haha I made her cry

96,700 km's thats a hell of a lot.. I drive 95km's exactly to work and back damn near every day. trying to bus more.

OH, and for f*(&'s sakes. They just moved the bus pick up times to be 20 minutes earlier... NOT happy about that.
