I'm not reading all the crap so if it was already said so be it.

Having keyed cylinders on BOTH sides of a door is against every building code I have ever read not to mention plain stupid. In case of a fire people must be able to open the door without the use of tools (key).

I would highly suggest installing a thumb-turn not only for safety but so the lock functions properly.

There is no logical reason to have a key way on both sides.

What's the story behind the key? Did it break off when you were leaving work or something.

When he called me last night all he said is that he got out ok, I'm assuming they had a locksmith out to fix it.

Of course, you left the broken part of the key in the lock, so when the thief showed up all he had to do outside was turn the cylinder (key kept it unlocked). Then you got fired this morning for leaving the door unlocked.

That should give all those people that fell for it last night some fantasy revenge.:D
