Powder coat match rattle can?

I'm getting some 17" Trd wheels powder coated satin black. If I used krylon fusion satin black what are the chances that they match fairly well ?

 

Probably not. If your wheels are getting powder coated, what is the cheap spray can for? And wouldn't it have been better to ask the guy doing the powder coat his opinion on paint matching? I mean, not everyone's "satin black" is the same.

Some plastics will melt in the oven used for powder coating. The painter does not want the liability to powder coat plastic parts.

I am guessing it is his center caps he is trying to paint.

It is going to be a trail and error process to get a matching finish.

Nothing wrong with some contrast either.

 

find a different powder coater, there are now lower temp powders that can be used on plastic without the risk of melting anything

 

Yes it's center caps. I apologize. Wrote the post in a hurry while thinking about it. I wasnt aware that plastic could be powder coated. Never even mentioned it. I'll Check with the guy and see what he can do. Finding another guy is kinda not monetarily smart. Wheels are at his shop as we speak. Oh well, live and learn. Thanks for the help.

 

it probably wouldn't be too much off. the worse thing is you end up trying 2 or 3 different brands to match the satin sheen. try going to some paint shops or even body shops to get the paint match correctly. bring them the wheel and they can color match it almost 100%.

 

Just get the FJ Cruiser TRD Trail Team edition black center caps. Check it out. Go to post #8 and it shows the part number and what they look like on the 17" Tacoma Sport wheels in black.
