:( I've gone to the same car wash for years and never had 1 problem.. the 1/2 way rich people run the 100K cars thru it all the time and never a problem! My taco is 2 weeks old today!
Tuesday I run it thru and say.."no air freshener" I hate it!
New dude at the drying section pumps in 6 shots of the 'new car scent' 1st it trashed the original new car smell...anyway they take it in to shampoo the carpet and seats as they were sorry...
Good news- smell as gone, but so is my new car smell
Bad news - dude it backing it out of the bay and left his air gun dangling from the ceiling... scratched the whole damn side up:eek: They tried buffing --- did not work
There gonna send it to a body shop to wet sand... anybody know if this would or could cause more damage?

This is why I would NEVER let anyone else wash my truck... EVER !
Even if I had to drive a dirty truck around town.. until I could wash it myself.. I've crazy like that.. but oh well..

If it's done poorly it will never look the same, I suggest you make an agreement with them to pay for the cost and have the dealer do the work, then there won't be a warranty issue. Otherwise your going to get the cheapest repair they can find, or worse they'll try to fix it,

if u loved ur truck ud wash it yourself! ahaha just kidding. shoot they better pay for the damages, or free car washes for a year dammit! how big is the damage again? if its pretty small, id just do a touch up. but u shouldnt let them choose a shop, ur truck ur choice.

, but i like detailing my truck and other cars, got about a 300$ investment in car detaling supplies. yeah i love shiny cars.

I had always hand washed my vehicles until the pull through BrushLESS water jets only type places came to be. I still use them between hand washes to keep the dust off and helps with the road grime.

I was just about ready to try out one of those places that do it for you and have ten folks drying them off.Well now I just told myself to keep doing like I have been! :)

Thanks everyone for your input! I went to a body shop today that specializes in big $$ cars and they told me they can make it look good, just one problem:(
They said that the paint has what he called orange peel. It is a ripple effect in the clear coat that the factory is supposed to get out before they do the final coat. He said they can repaint the door perfectly, but due to the orange peel that no one can re created perfectly, it would cause shading variations between the door panel and the rest of the truck and not look good under different lighting conditions... that said, I'm leaning towards leaving it be. The car wash did manage to buff a lot out of it and it is hard to see... just I know its there, so I see it every time I look at it.
The body shop guy had a good idea to leave it and this was his reason... He related it to his wife... he said she don't look as good, nor perform as good as when she was new, but he still loved her. He said the truck will still be preforming long after the next several dings and scratches, so I should go with it and get a credit from the car wash and see if I could milk them for an equal amount of the damage in services from them or a cash settlement. I talked to the car wash and he agreed that he will accept 3 estimates of my choice and come to whatever settlement deemed fair for each of us...
All & all, is is not that bad... its only bad cause its 2 weeks old!
I think is offer is good.. maybe I'll take the cash and put on the lift :)

I'm sure you've come to the same conclusion, the dumbf*ck who washed your car had it in for you because you're driving a brand new truck. Nobody with an IQ over 80 would pump any kind of friggin scent into a brand new truck!

My two cents, file a claim with THEIR insurance and get the cash you need to fix it correctly.

and then take that cash and get the lift! as soon as you take it offroad or to Walmart, it's gunna get more dings and scratches anyway...i say that if it's already hard to see from them buffing it, just leave it be...that way you won't get pissed again the next time it gets dinged up cuz it wasn't perfect already ya know

wow that sucks. i would make them replace the truck if you are still not happy. thats what insurance is for! (theirs of course).

i had a car blow out an engine or transmission doing about 80mph in front of me one night. i heard all these dings and sounds as stuff hit the front of my truck. i got oil all over my truck and windsheild. had i not had a couple of drinks that night, i would of stopped but figured didnt want to chance it. :( 5,000 miles in and front bumbed is dinged

Bummer, that blows! sorry bout your tacoma!

Anyway I settled everything, since you really need to squint to see the damn marks, and sure as s_it its gonna get more...one day
I decided to leave bad enough be.
Went to another body shop and he explained the orange peel thing some more.. basically a manufacture screwup... if they level out the clear coat it would never be an issue, with the ripples it is impossible to match it and one would have dull spots that would look worse than my scratches

Settled with the car wash, 2 yrs free washes $800.00 value and 2 free complete details inside/out another $400.00
So now it wont sting so bad everytime I see it, cause like $1200 saved will pay for lift and tires :) (or should)
