Arrows I use easton axis arrows with a 500 spine cut to the front of the riser. Once you get into shooting a bit you may want to start building your own arrows (ie: wraps and fletching). I buy mine with bare shafts so I can get the custom look without paying someone to fletch my arrows. Its quite easy so when you are there just drop me a line I can help get you through that.

    BOUGHT MY BOW!!!!

Here is what I ordered yesterday at the shop! cannot wait!!

    1. Strother SX Rush RH 60-70# with Realtree AP
    2. T.R.U. Ball Pro Diamond Release
    3. Tight Spot Quiver in Realtree AP
    4. Q.A.D. Ultra-Rest HDx Realtree AP
    5. Black Gold Ascent 5-Pin Sight
    6. Strother 8" Stabilizer

Picking up some Easter Blazer Arrows just to use as target arrows until I figure out what I like and what the bow likes. Once I figure out the arrow I will hunt with I will get Flex Fletch FFP-360.

Probably gonna grab a Plano case to keep everything secure and safe!

SO STOKED! CANNOT WAIT TO GET OUT AND SHOOT IT!!

Thank you all for all the suggestions and let me know what you think the set-up I just ordered! :)

I will probably be asking questions about techniques and the gear I am getting so stay tuned

Ya, get a good fletcher and learn to do them yourself..nothing more satisfying.. I've been fletching for ~25 years..on the same fletchers. Bitzenbergers. They last forever.

I've been using ACC's for quite a while..super happy with them. Only downside is they are expensive and it sucks to loose/break one. I broke/lost/bent 3 on my trip to Kansas this spring.. So I pulled some XX75's out of the old arrow bucket and used those for Iowa turkeys. I'll keep using ACC's for deer and elk, but I'll use XX75 aluminum for turkeys from now on. I shoot X-10 ProTour's for outdoor target..they are super sweet :)

One thing to keep in mind on arrows is the straightness is key factor on how they will shoot with a broadhead. Easton advertises the worst out of straight you will find in that particular arrow. All other companies advertise they best you will find in that arrow.

What I do if I'm picking out arrows from a bulk pack: Spin them in your fingers so you can find the straightest ones. Or roll them on a glass counter.. Or spin them in a arrow straightener with a dial indicator.

Has anyone every heard of using hay bails as targets being detrimental to the arrows/tips/fletching?? I have 6 bails on the side of my house and figured I should just make my own range. thoughts??

Hay bales are not nearly dense enough.. modern bows and small diameter arrows will blow right though them. Invest in a block or bag or speed trap target.

I find that Morrel bag targets are great for field points, mine has a a few thousand shots in it with field points, and the only thing that shows it is the color of the targets on the main bag

It just wears the paint off. If I need
To redo them, I can just use a sharpie or something

The. I also have a Morrel block target for broad heads, I use both field pints and broad heads on it. I notice more damage on it than on the bag
    With field points

Also, what kind of boradheads does everyone use?

I have a set of crimson talon XTs that I haven't used yet

I also have a bunch of older boradheads that I can use too, I just need to Sharpen them.

i shoot grim reapers at turkey.

for big game i use slicktrick 100 magnums and 100gr montecs interchangeably. both fly with my fieldtips perfectly. i dont kill alot because i am not the greatest hunter.

for targets..i shoot at a rinehart 18-1. is it great? it is alright. if you shoot fieldtips at it, i bet you NEVER wear it out. you push broadheads into it, you will vaporize it fast. i bet i could wear one out in less than a week. mine is destroyed. my friend shoots at a yellow jacket, seems to stop broadheads great.

my brother sent me this picture. he shot at a police target..funny as hell.

Alright then, sounds like I will be looking into other types of targets then. I will use the hay bails in the back behind the targets just in case I miss.. Use it more as a safety barrier.

How much are they and what makes them so good??

Sounds good, I will look into those.

Thanks for bringing up broadheads, that was going to be one of my questions coming up here pretty soon :)

Alright, thanks for the info. I will check into yellow jackets as well

BTW great picture there! I thought it was a guy with an arrow in his head until I clicked on it and got the bigger picture. made me laugh!
