I removed my exhaust completely today, just to see what it sounds like and I love it! I unbolted it right after where it y's into one pipe so all that is on the truck now is the headers and cats and nothing after. I test drove it a few minutes ago and at every red light and when in park it would idle down to about 500 rpm. Is this because of loss of back pressure?? Would pipes after the outlet solve the problem? I plan on having a dual system without any mufflers if I do decide I want to keep it "straight piped".

I'll definitely put it back on for the power and to get it back to normal but I really like the sound.

Haha it's a little late at the moment, don't want to wake the neighbors, I've seen most of the straight piped taco as on YouTube and it sounds completely different. Much deeper.

Dude i'd put 4 inch dual vertical stacks on it, cut holes through bed, that would be bitchin and the caps on top will supply your idle back pressure and run awesome!!!!!!!!!

    WTF???

Is that real loud at normal driving speeds? That is the muffler I want for offroading reasons, but I don't really want to make the taco any louder during normal driving. I do like the loudness when I give it some skinny pedal every once in a while though. That is what I have liked about the stock exhaust. It is nice and quiet up until about 3-4G on the tach and then it makes some good noise:D But in Moab I was pretty worried about mashing it on a rock.

Makes sense. With backpressure, the engine has to work harder. For example, my idle RPM rises if I move the steering wheel (so the PS pump draws greater load).

to me its not. i would like louder. its a low pitch sound in the cab but it does resinate from bouncing off the ground. so if your really sensitive to sound then it way not be for you. my stock stereo at say 30 db easily covers the sound up.:burnrubber:

Nice! Nope. I'm not all that sensitive to sound. I actually watched a vid shortly after i made that post on a 2012, that had this exhaust and it sounded fine but he never revved it very high. Doesn't it sound very ricey at high rpms?
