    aLRIGHT...

    Discovery Pass Purchased
Shackles and recovery strap arriving today

    Now... the $64000 question...

In this park, is it reasonable to take a stock 4wd? I'm talking stock tires, mudflaps (though I do have replacements for these ;) ) and stock skid plates. Skids should be fine, but the tires have me a little concerned. I'm not sure even airing down will help these things when the going gets to be more than gravel.

Which begs the question to those who've been here before - am I just asking for trouble taking my new, stock Taco to play?

(For the record, I have extensive history offroading. My approach is generally "as slow as possible, as fast as required" to most situations...just like we were taught when training to be trail guides with Jeep Jamborees in Canada. ;) )

I could care less about havig to take a bypass on a hard obstacle, but being forced to tackle an obstacle I'd otherwise choose to bypass is a concern. ;)

Worst case, I'll just show up and scope it myself, but figured I'd ask up front to see what the collective wisdom thinks...understanding, of course, that any decisions made are my own. :)

Why, thank you acidfly! - clearly stated; I feel better about heading down for the day on Saturday; just what I wanted...

...and thus begins my newest chapter of sinking into the world of offroading...LOL I swore I switched to motorcycles because they were cheaper...though in my defence, I did manage to keep the Tacoma stock for... *turns to abacus*... 6 months!

I didn't last 6 days with my first Jeep... :D

Yes a stocko taco is no problem, I couldn't wait for my lift on my first trip and it was no problem.

Hey I will be there around noon, leave some trail for me. I don't want the leftovers haha. Sounds like this is going to be a blast, great weather, mindless driving, good people.

    OK, I'm in. :)

Given the weather is supposed to be fine on Saturday, I expect thi s to be a bit of a goat rodeo with loads of folks showing up at the park. This will be my first time ever in a "controlled" environment...I'm used to having access to private land with hand built trails...(how spoiled was that!?)...

Still, looking forward to this. I'll leave Kirkland sometime around 7AM and should easily be at the Safeway before 9:30...

    People who are camping Friday:

I anticipate being able to have cell service in camp, or otherwise I can drive into town to get signal. I will post up in this thread which campground we managed to get.

I have paper plates and some electrical tape, I'll try putting up some signs with a black 'T' if I think it's necessary

PM me with your cell if you would like updates that way.

Saturday morning people, us Friday people will be at the Safeway to greet you.

I had cell service off and on in the main part of the park last weekend (t mobile) it would say no service off and on. But most of my messages got out and I got most calls out no problem. So if you have at&t or something then I wouldn't really worry about it.

    Also, avoid the mcdonalds downtown.

Good thinking with the plates Mike! I am hoping we can get either 1 or 2 good sized sites. Here's a map of Camp Spillman that I tracked down. It's really hard to find info. for these campgrounds.
I also called DNR Specialist Jesse Silva @ 360-801-5097, since I had read a couple places the camprgrounds are locked with combination locks, and we will need the combination to get access. Not 100% sure though.

im making it official now. i am pulling off this tahuya trip. wife has been giving me a lot of shit about funeral. i just got my real discovery pass in the mail today too. this sucks. i want to go play off road.

quick suggestion to anybody that has time right now for firewood: go to a local beverage distributor (crown distributing in smokey point, sound beverage, coke, pepsi, etc) and ask them if they have any pallets they are throwing away, and they will usually give them to anybody that asks.
