Question for the good people of the garage. About 2 months ago I ranted about our energy company and them being completely moronic. They didn't want to give me a better notice than 2 weeks on putting Electrical to the house behind us. I complied and put up that monstrosity of a temp fence for 6 weeks. Nothing done by them so i took it down and waited. 2 weeks later the homeowner contacted me again saying that the power company had crews in the area and would be putting in the line. I complied and for the last week i took down the panel of my fence and left work early to put it up so that my dogs didn't have to stay in the house when my son got home. That wouldn't be fair to them. Then Friday i don't take the fence down and they show up to put the line in. I come home when my wife called (she's home on Fridays). They left before i got home but the wife talked to them. They took down my number and said they would call me when they were coming back. They still couldn't put the line in because the builder hadn't removed all of the silt fencing that was in the way.

That is when i got really fucking pissed. I've been nice and going out of my way to make sure they can get this damn line put in and my effort was for NOTHING, because the builder can't get his part of it done.

I want to send the builder at bill for my time and materials i used on the temp fence. I talked to my parents and their suggestion was to send them a bill and put a time frame on it. If it isn't paid in that time that i will put a lean against the house. That will stop them from closing on the house and REALLY PISS OFF the builder. I'm all for it. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I'm really pissed off that my effort and time has been completely WASTED>

 

She really likes it. It turned out really good. I have a few little things left to do on it.

 

The lean says that there is money owed and must be satisfied before it can be sold and transfer the title.

 

It will royally piss off the builder and the neighbor, but at this point i'm beyond caring.

 

I say go for it. I think it's ridicules about how you have to go out of your way for them and they don't do what they are supposed to, when they are supposed to. They just expect you to keep your life up-rooted until they decide to get their job done. I feel a one week notice should be enough and if they aren't going to make it, they have one more week and then you should no longer have to follow their schedule, they should adjust to yours. I
