What is this 'traded up' you speak of? There is no 'up' from tacomas.

What exactly is so amazing about an external touch display slightly larger than the original phone, that requires you to sit up and reach over to the console area to use? I'm not trying to bash it, I just seriously don't see the big amazing draw when you achieve nothing more functional than the AUX in already provides.

When your gf makes you a mix to represent her feelings you can say, "sorry babe, I don't have a cd player."

Well you get that 'aftermarket' look, for one, and I prefer the streamlined look of this one over knobs and buttons. For two, I no longer own a PCB so I HAVE to upgrade ;). Three you get full functionality of your phone w/out having to look down at your phone, which is in some places, illegal. Playing with your stereo is not. Also using the dock cable as opposed to the auxiliary will in most cases give you better tonal quality IIRC. Mostly I just like the way it operates and looks better than I do a stock HU.

I was looking at these...Lots of BAD reviews for the original AppRadio... Just youtube it. Problems with tracking and loading speed, functionality of apps, etc. Most of the bad reviews are due to the apps running from the phone rather than the head unit...and I don't believe that there is "multi-tasking" with HU apps.

Also, no multi-touch or really even touch scrolling through playlists and such... unless they fixed that with AppRadio2.

Do not buy this product if you have any intention of getting an iphone 5. I made that mistake and now am looking for an ipod touch 4th generation in 64 gig to remedy this error. Stereo worked awasome with my iphone 4 though.

Has Pioneer officially announced that they will not be supporting the new connection type? Or is it a firmware issue also?

It's a hardware issue. Called them yesterday. There's no way to adapt since Apple moved from an analog out to a digital out in their connector. They told me appradio 3 would support these things, but that won't be out for a while, and I don't think I will be getting it. We'll see.

I wanted on, but when I heard one in a car it sounded terrible vs. their lowest end touch screen decks (Example AVH-3200bt, which is a lot older).

Love the idea, just think they skimpped on hardware.

I have mine eq'd really well and I think it sounds fine. I've got a decent ear for that stuff, and I'd say it's an improvement on the stock JBL though.

It auto connects each time I get in, assuming I leave it on on my phone.

You really have to say this thing is awesome for me to ever recommend it to someone. I messed with one in the store for hours one day and came to the conclusion it made a very good target for my fist.

Give us some vids or something of this thing being badass.

At this point Brian I'm not sure I'm even reccomending it. Haha I have to buy a precarious generation iPod touch to even use the thing properly.

There are features I really do like though. Surfing the web in the truck is really fun and looks just like it is supposed to.
    The touch screen works well.
Doesn't take long to turn on, for my standards anyway.
I'll start a list and perhaps make a video for you guys. What specifically would you like to see?

Any updates on how this thing is working out? I still keep seeing mixed reviews on this AppRadio system. Mainly back and forths between major techies and standard users. And I've seen on Amazon that the price had dropped a lot on these.

Well a small update for you guys, I bought an iPod touch that's sole purpose is in the truck. So today was the first day of having full function back in the head unit, and I must say, when this thing works, it works pretty dang well. I need to install a 3-way toggle to bypass the parking brake sensor and put my vents back in with the bezel. We've got a mod day on the first so I'll hopefully get everything dialed in as it should be.

So my conclusion is this, if you have the right device paired to this unit, it's awesome, if you plan on upgrading your phone in the future, do NOT get it. I love being able to surf the web in the car, kinda a gimmick but what can I say, I like gimmicks sometimes:)

I like that you can buy a piece of hardware that plugs into the diagnostic port and relays engine info just like the scan gauge and ultragauge do, right on the head unit. I think it's 50 bucks and if I didn't already have the ultra gauge I'd probably get it. There's only a dozen or so apps that are compatible to it and mostly I've found them to be redundant. Each one trying to make media surfing better than the next, with the exception of the maps ones and the Internet browser.

I do intend to start researching what you can do with both a hacked iPod touch and hacked appradio, so stay tuned for that as I research more on that topic. I'm curious to see what the hackers came up with.
