I've been disconnecting the battery to my 2011 Tacoma to remove the door panels for a dynamat project. I have always had to reset the clock and the radio/sirius presets when I reconnect the battery but that's it. Today I turned on the A/C and I find out it's not working. I press the A/C button and the button lights up but the air that's blowing is the same temperature as when the a/C is turned off. If I turn the temperature up, the air gets hotter and if I turn the temperature down it drops but it's not A/C cold air. Is there a simple reset procedure like a "stick the key in the ignition and remove it three times, open the tail gate the start the ignition" that will get my A/C going again or am I going to need to take it in?

The A/C in my 2011 was doing the same, no cold air. I took it in on Friday and they said the seals were bad, no refrigerant in the system. New seals are on order.

Had your A/C been working? How many miles are on your truck? Mine was working fine up until last week (last time I turned on the a/C) and I only have 7300 miles on the truck.

When I installed my CAI, my A/C didn't work either. Turned out I was missing a plug on the CAI box so it was sucking in engine bay temperature air throwing off the MAF intake temp reading making the computer think we're driving through a super hot area so it shuts off the A/C system to decrease the load on the engine preventing over heating.

Re-installed the plug, reset the computer by pulling the neg cable on the battery, and all was fine.

No sure if this helps, but just sharing my story on my A/C not working after a simple install.

Everytime I have disconnected the battery on my v-6 2009 for any work, the air conditioner has taken 10 -15 minutes to 're-adjust' itself somehow. Not sure what info it loses with power disconnection, but eventually everything starts working fine, usually after highway driving speeds. Try yours again maybe pushing a few related buttons off and on.

It did work several months ago, the last time I turned it on. I have 22K miles on it, bought 6/15/11.

Thanks to you and everyone else for your suggestions. I discovered my problem with the A/C when I was driving from LA up to Sacramento on Mother's Day Eve. I live near the beach so I hadn't used the A/C recently. As soon as I hit the San Fernando Valley, I turned on the A/C to find it wasn't working. That was around 2:00 pm. I drove through the Central Valley turning the A/C on and off, up and down and nothing worked. I just kept the windows down and tried to keep it around 80 mph. Around 8:00 pm the outside temperature dropped below 90 for the first time--no air conditioning for three hundred miles or so.

When I got to my destination, I took a cold shower and posted the OP. The next morning I had a glimmer of hope with the suggestion to check the fuses. I pulled the fuse for the A/C and it was fine. So that wasn't it. I put the fuse back, turned on the truck and the A/C worked. It's worked ever since. I don't know what happened that fixed but damn I wish it had happened around Bakersfield.

This has happened to me as well, after disconnecting the battery and hooking it back up I found the A/C not working. After driving about 10-15 miles it kicked back on... its only happened that one time...

Can you move this to garage? I know it’s an old thread but I have his same issue and there’s no resolution I’m aware of.

It’s mostly annoying. After a battery disconnect the AC takes about an hour to blow cold air again. Truck has consistently done it since I’ve owned it.

    Anybody figured this out?

I'm going to try that. Good problem solving starts with solutions that don't cost anything.
AC was working when I bought it, not now, so I figured leak.

bump. noticed this problem today. got an alignment today, the vcs and steering wheel calibration required the tech to disconnect the battery. After battery reconnection, truck was test driven by the alignment tech and parked for ~half an hour. While I was driving off I noticed the AC wasn’t blowing cold air, put it on full blast and the air was still not cold. The cold air finally kicked in after 15-20min of driving. Soo not sure what’s going there. First time noticing this problem.

I intermittently have this problem too. Turned on the A/C for the first time this year the other day and it didn't blow cold for a few minutes but finally did. Happens inconsistently but always when I NEED the A/C!

    Subbed for an answer.

Even during the winter, make sure you run the a/c every once in a while

The A/C system gets a work out when you've got the defrost on, fellas. It's not like us cold-weather guys aren't using the system.

Bump for an answer to the OP's problem
