Yea that seems to be my experience with them too. My dad just talked me into looking at the 2012 rubicons this week since they have d40 axles, f&r lockers, etc.. but I don't trust jeeps.

the ski shouldn't be too hard to fix the leak at least. I do treat the truck good. bike is a Triumph. 2008 sprint st with somewhere around 3k miles. I can't afford ninja insurance even if i wanted one lol

and actually I paddled on the delaware last weekend with my dad and his kayak club, and it looks like tomorrow we'll be paddling the schukill river starting in hamburg, pa. meeting at cabelas at 10:30

I checked the triumph forum and it seems that this is a known issue. instead of having an alternator like a car, it has a regulator/rectifier type charging system. People seem to upgrade that a lot, and also upgrade the wiring from battery-ground, battery-starter, starter-whatever.

So it looks like i'll be doing all that very soon.

my ski is a 2003 yamaha gp1300r. picked it up a month or 2 ago for $2800 and put around $1k into it for performance and maintenance. only had 12 hours on it when i bought it

Wow, that's a great deal! Let me know if you ever see anymore deals like that. I've been keeping my eyes open. Sold my kayak when I moved from Brick. Kinda wish I kept it.

Check into Liberty Mutual. You're paying around what I was paying with Allstate. I'm down to about $1,500 per year for my Taco and the Camry. Sounds like you could save a few bucks (depending on your driving record).

yea well isn't yours classified as something different than a sport bike? I was at a shop one time and a guy was buying a brand new yamaha R1 and had a clean driving record, 30 years old, and it was over $2grand a year for just the bike insurance.

mine is a sport tour so its a lot less than my friend's CBR

My 750 Ninja was $100 a year, but that was 10 years ago
    Man I'm getting old :(

My family has had marinas and sold boats for the last 40 years. They used to sell the shit out of Century and Sunray in the 80's and early 90's. I learned through others to stay away. I do love boats/jet skis.....just driving other peoples :D

The last boat I had sat at the marina for 3 years on the trailer and I only took it out once. Spent more time maintaining it then driving it.

Yea I was hoping a jet ski would be a lot more affordable than a boat.

And on that topic, I think I might of found the leak. I took it to the ramp today and put it in the water to try to see where the water is coming from. I think it's coming back through the bilge pump. I pulled it up as high as I could get it and let it sit for a while... No water came in. So I might just need a one way valve and I'll be all set

    yep.. figured out the leak.

the bilge pump doesn't have a 1 way valve on it. the hose has to curve up as high in the hull as possible, then curve back down to to exit hole. this way there is an air trap, keeping water from flowing back in. when I put the ski back together I didn't know the hose had to go anywhere special so I just routed it directly to the exit hole.

:woot: just need to put it back together again and I'll be all set!!
