for macro work, manual focus is generally used, auto focus is close to worthless, unless your subject is still life.

So we had a crazy storm last night! First time I have ever seen hail like this up in the mtns where I live in NM.

    The beauty before the storm!....
about 3 min later all hell or should I say hail broke loose, it sounded like baseballs hitting the tin roof!

The first signs of trouble, if you look you can see the first pieces of hail that were falling.

The view after the hail had ended.

The hail storm caused massive rocks to fall down the mtns around the tunnel so the snow plows were out to clear the roads.

    Oh, forgot the hail. LOL

Shot these for an artist friend of mine...

The pieces stamped out of these sheets of metal are used in slot machines...

Laser cut then bent by hand and welded...some receive some torching for extra color
    [IMG]

These last two - these metal rings are scrap from the stamping of the rear drive assembly for Harley-Davidson. My buddy, the artist, works for Source One Manufacturing (formerly Lincoln Plating) who does a lot of metal and chrome work for HD.
