Thatll be tight! i think im just going to wait till i get stuck doing the 2 wheel boogie then ill cut it...

isnt it the swame as 4 hi though? i mean sure youd dont have as much torque to the wheels but for the most part all 4 will spin?

for some reason when i go up my driveway in 4hi (STEEP gravel) it feels like my front kinda jerks or lurks forward when it loses a little traction?

does the battery really need to be disconnected to cut the wire? I'm lazy and don't want to have to go back and redo the turning off the chimes when everything goes back to default lol

Did this today on my TRD Sport DCLB. Auto LSD and TRAC OFF lights did not come on in 4L. They did before this mod. Didn't bother disconnecting battery before hand. 4 Lo light blinks.

When I first learned about the mod (from this thread), I sent an e-mail to Toyota's tech knucklebutts and asked them specifically why it was excluded when in 4-Lo. They sent me back a nice direct quote straight out of my stupid owner's manual which completely ignored my question. Yeah, thanks for nothing bastiches! :smack: I considered sending them back my question and their non-answer, but didn't see the point.

Between that and no one at two stealerships being able to tell me anything better, I just did the mod. I figure there have been more than enough folks do this already, and I have heard of absolutely none of them dying in a grease fire in a ditch somewhere, so there's likely no good technical reason for it.

Just for the record, I just did this on my 2012, and the 4lo light blinks but has no beeping, and the Auto LSD and TRAC Off lights do not come on anymore in 4L. Best friggin mod i've done so far. Also, it was the same yellow wire with the black line as the 09-10 Tacos: the second yellow wire.

For those of you worried about cutting the wire...just cut it an inch or two back from the connector, then you can splice it back for whatever reason. like zombies coming down the street or something.

    Great mod.

Not unless you're into doing more work than you need to. I just pulled it from the connector and taped the end. Won't take 2 min to undo it if I ever feel the need.

i like to dick around w/ different options on terrain. mainly i try to stay 2wd as long as possible on a trail, then bump it to 2wd w/ autolsd, then up to 4hi, then 4lo, then 4lo w/ YWM, then i'm screwd after that.
