    Train Horn, Love Stains, Bent Tow Hitch.
    About to install 5100s @ .85 with eibach coils and 1/4" top plate spacers (passenger side & driver side to achieve full 3" lift) I'll also be installing front differential drop kit. I have 1.25" spidertrax and would like to run either 285/75R16's or if I go to a 17" wheel 285/70R17...will I absolutely need aftermarket UCA's or will I be able to get by with the stock UCAs??

    I don't know if this information is needed to answer my question but my rear lift is a 2" aal w/ axle shims and 5100s. Also, it's a 2005 double cable 4wd.

    You dont know that. You SAY this.....but.....what would you say if he gets his lift on....goes driving around, big smile....Hand on your girls leg, then BOOM!......A fucking airplane hits him?? THEN WHAT!!!!! Perhaps had he simply installed the UCA's, the airplane would have hit the hippy in the scooby doo van!

    I am currently running 5100's @ .85 with Eibachs and a 1/4" driver's side spacer for the infamous ' Taco Lean'. I have not replaced the stock UCA's.

    While my Camber is slightly higher than I would prefer, it is within spec. My Caster is lower than I would prefer, but is also within spec. I have noticed no problems with any road wander.

    Sooo, kind of a mixed response here, but I think I'm going to have to make the stock UCAs work for a little while as I really need to buy tires as soon as I put my lift in. Will take before and after pics and post them to this thread...also, I'll let you know if I have to dodge any planes! ;)

    Get the UCA's. With alignment not at ideal setting excess wear can occur at joints, wheel bearings, and tire treads. But its up to you

    You can get the camber and toe within spec using stock UCA's. Caster being out of spec does not wear your tires unevenly, just causes a wandering feeling. The other option is to sacrifice some camber to gain some caster adjustment, in which case you'd wear the outter edge of the front tires.

    this^^.
    My understanding is that the wear one needs to consider is at the cv joint. It is not a UCA issue. With a lifted front end the angles of the cv joint increase. This increased angle can sometimes stress the cv boot towards damage. If this happens this joint may lose its grease and fail. This is why some install a differential drop after a front lift. It is important to keep a close eye on this if you install a lift imo
